What does /out/ think of adventure bikes and the adv scene in general?
Are you glad your hobby still sells cars and bikes?
Are you pissed they will be used only to ride to cars and coffee?
any motorcycle is /out/ if you really go /out/ with it

I'm specifically talking the "my bike weighs 500 pounds and has electronic EVERYTHING" or "i paid 50k for this fwd SUV, i can definitely off-road it if i wanted"
whatever
272 pounds, most high-tech thing on there is the clock. Or a GPS if I snap that in the cradle.
Used to think I was too big, wide, and heavy to ride a bike.
Borrowed a Suzuki 125.
Full compression on the springs the second I put my weight on it.
Some anons in previous threads seem to think there's bikes that can fit me.
Might go looking at one of the R Series BMWs later this year.
Wish me luck.

I loved watching Ewan McGregor and Charley Boerman doing Long Way Round on their BMW 1200s. Really showed what you can put a bike through if you try hard enough.

clearly pissed off. They took good bikes (like the yamaha xt 240 - 550, the single-cylinder honda xl etc) and modified them into useless toys that you can no longer repair on your own, making them almost unusable for actual "adventuring".
Everything that came after single-spring suspension was a step back, which is why Im still riding my XT240.

Try a Husquarna. Buddie of mine weighs 110-120kg (depending on how long ago he last dieted), is around 2m tall and can still comfortably drive a Husqarna 600ccm bike.

Did a 500 mile ride up through the Sierras last Saturday I always start at Starbucks or a hip independent coffee shop then stop at brew pubs along the way. Don't assume all those bikes you see out front are homos.

That sounds pretty homo dude

This is what got me interested in this, as well as C90 adventures. I was thinking a dual sport bike, I see a few 200/250cc Street legal bikes for around 1.5k I'm my area on Craigslist. If I can light and take back roads and great roads, is this enough?
DR200SE seems cheaper, seen people on forums recommend a KLX 250 though.
I am about 2m, or 6'7
I don't mind adventure bikes, I think they're well suited to the typing of riding that actually happens on them which is 70-90% on paved roads. I'm looking at getting either a tiger 800xcx or a KTM 990 in the next couple of weeks, I'm 75% street riding 25% off road and I'm not going too far innawoods as is.
