Any Rockheads/Mineralfags here? I've recently rediscovered my hobby of collecting some cool ass rocks after getting in the construction industry. After mines, construction sites are a freakin gold mine for interesting specimens. In my case, the site i'm helping supervise seems to be garnet rich as opposed to my hometown which only seems to have quartz or sandstone.
That's a pretty rock, OP.

There's a creek that runs through my farm that produces an assload of geodes.
Enough so that I bought a dedicated band saw and cheapo rock tumbler for them so I can saw them up without them shattering, which I then sell on ebay for anywhere from $5 for a meh-tier ring out of one to $5000 for a large, well-polished half. Paid for the band saw in 1 outing and has been an interesting, if sporadic, source of income.
In other news, about 1 in 20 suspected geodes end up being oil/tar filled. Which makes a goddamn mess and they're not worth anything.

Yes, or at least I want to be. Please share some very good books if you could. Looking for guide books as well as enjoyable, sit down and read books.

I've read it. It's good, but I think you'll get more out of it if you already know the geological places he mentions. If not you probably wont learn too much.
