Hey fellow /out/ists,
I'm going on an all expenses paid Himalayan hiking trip to the Everest base layer and back. 10 days hiking with some travel days thrown in.
I'm a fat fuck with bad lungs and I'll use this shit to get back into shape.
Anydoodles... all expenses paid so can you guys come up with a good
Gear list? Travel dates will be February/march 2018.
Hit me with the good shit! I don't want to die out there and money isn't a problem.

>I'll use this shit to get back into shape
lol, no you won't
just do normal hiking
>come up with a good Gear list
it's just hiking
>>1051604
Just posting in because this is going to be a good thread. :))
>fat fuck with bad lungs
>making it over 17,000'
>mfw
lol. enjoy your hape. you're going to die in the airport, faggot
>>1051628
See, it didn't took too long. Opie prepare your angus.
Get a good monocular. Great for scouting the path or observing wildlife from afar.
Things to look for in a monocular:
>Magnification
>Size of optics
>Fog proof
>Shock Proof
>Build Quality
If money truly isnt an issue, I reccomend the Bushnell Legendary 10x42. MSRP is like 300 dollars, but often sales for half that. Shop around.
>>1051636
Forgot to add waterproof. Most monoculars are water proof these days, but there are sneaky fuckers who try to skirt around it. All in all read the reviews of the product you are going to buy beforehand. You get what you pay for when it comes to optics (that and theres a lot of snake oil in it too).
>>1051636
>guided tour
>scouting the path
apparently op's idiocy is attracting other idiots
>>1051604
Gear:
1 year gym membership
>>1051636
Wow the most important thing in a hike isn't even a bag, it's a looking glass!
>>1051659
Got it and been going for 3 weeks already. Figure since its feb 2018 I can get sorta into shape. Main problem is them tendiere and legal weed, yo. The mind is willing but the flesh is spongy and
Weak.
>>1051636
I like that idea. Not going to do any scouting I recon but it'll be cool to look at things that are far away.
>>1051629
Kek. Anus is fully prepared!
>>1051617
Truth. I've been going to the gym and been hiking around my area. Guess I've never done it in a place that high up, that cold or that far away from an English speaking country before.
>>1051678
Post more catter. Also are you sponsored or just wealthy parents? Either way good for you anon.
>>1051688
My sorta wealthy mom has it on her bucket list and just asked me to go... also apparently there is a great sale right now?! Idk dude but if someone asks you if you want to go to all an expensive trip to the Everest base camp, you say "yes!".
>>1051688
Also since you were so nice, here is a caterpillar, in its natural habitat.
>>1051647
>>1051660
Thats right kiddos! Tools can only have one purpose!
>>1051696
so, what? anon's going to have to break open his monocular and use its lens to make a fire out of dried yak turds on his fully guided tour to the bottom of a mountain?
>>1051691
Man your cat is really good looking, sweet. And yeah, you can't say no to that, I hope you have a good one.
>>1051673
Dude you need /fit/
4.5 scoops
>>1051700
Haha fuck, who knows, I might have to! If I end up in that situation I'll surely think of you now.
>>1051704
Thanks anon! Here is another just for fun:
>>1051716
Are you the same anon who's running the other incredible bait troll thread about trying to lose weight by going out in the woods for three days with no food?
>>1051604
>and I'll use this shit to get back into shape.
No... You won't.
read into thin air by that dude that wrote into the wild.
>>1051734
Haha no but that sounds like a good read! Is that the same anon who says he doesn't have to pay for university housing because he can just live in the adjacent Forrest?
>>1051681
Bring a jacket
>>1051604
>breathable, wind- and waterproof outer shell (ie. GoreTex/eVent/HyVent/... jacket and pants)
>fleece and synthetic/wool/non-cotton baselayer
>down/Primaloft/whatever warm jacket for evenings or really cold weather
>some sort of comfy hiking pants
>warm gloves (maybe liner gloves too) and head cover against cold and sun
>sunglasses and sunscreen
>hiking boots, probably B/C, comfy socks, break all of these in
>hiking poles, seriously
>comfy backpack
>thermos and/or camelback type system
>towel
Optional: binoculars or monocular, always nice to have. Good camera if you have one. Comfy warm camp shoes. Base layer for legs if yours get cold easily.
>>1051970
I thought flip flops and my sweet spitfire t shirt. I'll consider that jacket though.
>>1051706
Whoa you got to warn him about leaving humanity behind!
>>1051604
How did you manage to get an all expense paid trip to Everest? Do you have any prior experience with the mountains?
If anyone is looking for a good place to discuss this, there is now an official /out/ telegram group

>>1052524
Why use Russian intelligence compromised instant messengers when there are perfectly good US intelligence compromised ones available...?
>>1052512
he's hiking to Everest base camp which usually doesn't require any experience other than being somewhat in shape. You can book them with a number a companies.
>>1051604
>I'm a fat fuck with bad lungs and I'll use this shit to get back into shape.
Thank you for keeping the guide service in business, many of those folks are good people with great skills and a real passion for the outdoors. Fat fucking retards like you are the main reason everest guiders stay in business, and I for one salute you for it. Have fun on PooinLoo Mountain, and try to get some cool pictures while you get dragged in a single file line up to the summit!
>>1052650
Like jesus Christ OP. Did you even bother scrolling down? They literally tell you what to bring.
>>1052660
https://www.rei.com/adventures/trips/asia/mount-everest-base-camp-trek.html
Ok OP. Which one of these do you actually need help with? I wouldn't get the pants or jackets until you lose some weight. Go to /fit/ for advice on that.
>>1051604
Damn I would kill to go there
>>1052650
I believe they even have checklists for various activities
>>1052660
I know! Right on the link i posted too...
I was more wondering about specific brands that are known to be high quality and too expensive for me to usually buy. Thanks for the reply nonetheless.
>>1052661
Solid advice that. I need to lose like ~15 pounds and ill be golden. I think i can do that within the next 5 months slowly with better diet and a slightly increased level of base exercise.
I'm not like morbidly obese neckbeard fat, im more like "used to be in shape but enjoyed too much pot and beer" fat.
>>1052621
Yeah, no standing in the mountain line for me. I feel like that was cool maybe 50 years ago...
As the other anon pointed out, itll just be the basecamp and a fair bit of hiking to get there.
This whole thing was never on my "to do" list but I'm certainly not going to pass up the opportunity to check out the Himalayan mountains.
If I lie dying somewhere on the side of the road in a year, ill think of you and all the other anons as the sweet embrace of death finally comes. I'll think of this thread and all the good times we had.
>>1052621
Hehe yeah I bet what you said is all pretty spot on. I do know that the locals there have been suffering after the earthquake and subsequent drop in tourism. It's something a lot of people
Don't take into account but I would imagine some locals like having fat white anons and their $$$ come over.
>>1052621
I will absolutely take some pictures, not on the way to the summit since I won't be doing that, but of the hike and mountains. I'll post a image dump in march of 2018 once this is all completed. Just for you I'll take some pictures of loos, can't promise poos.
