I always take it backpacking and extended camping, have used for 10 years.
Its a KABAR 1211 and the strap is from a Gerber LMF 2 infantry knife.
Broke the gerber, isn't full tang has plastic in the middle to avoid electrocution but thusly added a big weakness.
How does /out/ feel about it?
It's never let me down, from skinning game, typical survival required activity, personal protection, even processing wood. Sharp as hell after a decade.

>serrated
how many tactical fabric cutting ops do you do regularly?
>>1050249
>Sharp as hell after a decade.
Go away.
Got a kabar as a gift. Had it for years. Its uterrly useless. Too big and unwieldy for hunting and skinning even big game like deer.
>>1050278
The KABAR is fundamentally a weapon that was designed to violently impale baddies, a task at which it excels. Everything else is better handled with a different knife. >inb4 Mora
>>1050247
Great knife but you have the serrated version.
I've had mine almost 10 years. Great for battoning, just don't hit the top hand guard.
>>1050287
>Great for battoning
KYS please.

Your bait game is weak. Be more subtle next time.

1) the serrations are very useful, I also own the non-serrated version
2)yes I sharpen it why the hell wouldn't you, I also oil it
3)I've skinned everythinf from squirrel, fish, deer, elk, coyote, etc with it and never once did I think anything besides "wow this works great"
4) I completely process fallen trees into firewood with this and only this
5) This isn't bait, I found this board and got triggered by how many people have difficulty using just one knife for literally everything, shit I torture the hell out of this thing and it doesn't give a fuck about how I treat it in the woods

Is that why the paint on it is spotless?
3/10 see me in my office.
>>1050360
I paint it with Kryo-lac 2x coverage machine & implement 1k oil based epoxy primer/top-kote to keep it looking nice.
>>1050346
> its easy to skin w creature practically the same length as the knife itself.
You must be joking or your end product is some fucked inedible pile of hair infested scrap.
>>1050804
Skinning with a big knife is very possible.
In South America, indigenous people use machetes for everything, even skinning small game.
They just choke up on the blade.
A similar thing can be done to the Ka-Bar.
You could skin game with a light axe if you wanted to.
>>1050389
The coating on the Ka-Bar wears off easy.
If its not worn, it hasn't been used.
The coating itself is 1k epoxy paint. Comes off easy with Acetone.
>>1050839
The paint is only faded in a few spots, most likely due only to wood working. The paint on the gerber I referenced in the OP faded within a few months.

You know you can just use the tip?
>>1050247
>have used for 10 years
>not a single nick or scratch in the relatively fragile blade coating or ABS plastic sheath
Bullshit.
>>1050887
>incapable of intelligently using a blade

Looks more like you've had it for a few weeks.

Thanks.

But some how you always end up handle deep in a gushing gash.
>>1050249
Please elaborate on how it has never failed you at personal protection.
>>1050843
I'm speaking out of personal experience.
My Ka-Bar is from 2006/2007.
The paint had signs of use fairly quick, with some areas even getting rubbed dowb to bare metal eventually.
>>1051020
That's nice, merely shows your mechnical comprehension.
>>1051016
I live in a pretty poor region of Kentucky, general rule is never bring a weapon you don't intend to use as you'll just be minus a hand so in the situations I've found it appropiate I've typically used it to slash while throwing a few kicks and maintaining distance. Never stabbed a man, it would probably kill them and I've always felt in control of the situation to not get to that point.

How
>>1050286
>>1050278
The Ka-Bar is a militarized version of traditional hunting knife patterns.

that thing has not been in use for a decade mate.
>>1051029
it's a utility knife that some mistakenly call combat knife but it's not.

What a common shitpost by an insecure baby
>>1051595
common? How dare you sir!
but seriously, I've never seen that joke made before.
>>1051243
I agree
Other than the guard for stabbing, it's really a utility knife.
The point is thick and good for poking open containers (even metal ones), and the blade is pretty thick overall also aids in its ability to pry shit.
It's much more stout than the old clip point bowies of similar length for cleaning game
