Ok yall how would one start being an urban explorer? like what gear do I need and stuff. I already got an old video camera to take aesthetic shots with.

Flashlight. Sturdy shoes. Work gloves. Cell phone. That's a fully charged cell phone, of course.
A common point of contention is whether you should bring items that can be construed as "burglary tools". Having them can get you access to spots you'd otherwise miss out on. But the flipside is, this shit is already a legal grey area--trespassing laws being what they are, a very dark legal grey area--and getting caught with them won't look good. It can get you access to places you'd otherwise miss out on, like the inside of a jail cell. And beyond yourself, it can fuck matters up for other urbex people, provoke crackdowns on them.
So there's a large contingent of people who swear against carrying prybars or bolt cutters. On the other hand, there's a vocal minority advocating the "don't be a giant pussy, cut through some padlocks" ethos.
It comes down to personal choice in the end.

Lockpicks so you are not damaging property. You can lock things back up and no one will be the wiser.
>>1049689
Use the designated image for Urban /out/ next time, ok OP?
No one likes looking whatever the fuck it is you just posted.
>>1049742
It's tarman and it's a common sight down innadrain.

Look up what's in your area and ease into it by following other people's previous (safe) expeditions.
Have fun with it but know the warning signs/what to stay away from before you go - Eg stay the fuck out of sewers/manholes, don't break/cut shit or go anywhere where there's security.
Common sense really, but a surprising amount of people end up being arrested/dying by being somewhere they shouldn't.
>>1049744
Oh snap, ur right,
My bad
Entered this board (1st time) just to see if this sort of thing is what you guys were into.
Just returned from my first outing and wanted to share pics with someone outside muh friend group. People that are really into it. Not that I can really claim to be "that" into it, but w/e.

Might wanna tell you how it went too...
Abandoned railway endway station of some sort. The first floor certainly. The other floors may have been for repair work.
>>1050081
Low traffic area. Snuck in through parking lot that had an alley connected to the front of the building which was fenced off from the front.
>>1050083
Climbed in through broken window. Well trafficked by other explorers, artists, homeless, and, according to a friend, drug dealers.
>>1050085
Looked around first floor, snapping pictures as I went.
This is my favorite one. Have any of you read The Pale Green Pants by Dr. Seuss? The best horror story ever told?
>>1050086
Then I was deep within the woods
When, suddenly, I spied them,
I saw a pair of pale green pants
With nobody inside them!
>>1050087
I wasn't scared. But yet, I stopped.
What could those pants be there for?
What could a pair of pants at night
Be standing in the air for?
And so on...
>>1050088
Building had eight floors. Didn't enter every single one of them, but did make it to the roof.
>>1050089
I spent very little time in the room I suspect was an asbestos storage room/troublesome union protected worker alternate assignment area.
>>1050091
As you can tell, lots of graffiti. A lot of discarded cans in and outside the building.
>>1050093
I considered spraying something myself, but the extent of my artistic ability is shitty mspaint comics maligning things I pretend to dislike to make children angry on a Siamese Ping-Pong forum.

This made me think *Radiation Detected*
And that's that. I don't like the other pictures very much. Hope you enjoyed. Remember to like, favorite, and subscribe.
all same location, this was oposite the big concrete field with the turney thing. big glass fiber dome thing
>>1050105
Other pictures I haven't posted, that is...
Nabbed these things too.
here you see the glass fiber of the dome. not good to breathe
Oh, yeah, next time, I'm bringing a lvl 3 mask. The asbestos room was not pleasant.
now im gonna try to explain this as best i can, if you imagine the concrete field being north of the dome. then south of the dome was the entrance/parking, now, when we stumbled upon the field and the dome, we didnt know this was there. this is inside on the first floor
now, this building seemd really fucking odd, big concrete field, wierd turning wheel thing, glass fiber dome. so we kept exploring
>>1050104
State?
My pics were from inna Albany area New York.
now, me, being the dumbass i was didnt take photoes of the most fucking interesting part ... the door with 31 on it, that was an elevator, 3 floors down. there was a stairway leading up to the dome but it was partcially collapsed. me and the buddies i were there with wanna go back, so might be gonna get some pics of it, but on that day we were totally unprepared, no joke we were playing Pokemon Go and stumbled on the concrete field
as far as we could figure out from left over electronics, it was some kind of telecomunications thing, belongin to the long defunct "Sonofon" company
>>1050118
>state
Denmark
and there was half a mummified cat. we didnt wanna go down the stairs because the building had seen substancial fire and water damage, and with all the glass fiber ... not nice
and a wierd toilet with an edgy message and a "killroy was here"
hope i can gather some friends and go back someday. that was all. it also had pretty huge halogen lights outside, over all just pretty wierd
>>1050124
this was on some the -i dont know what- equipment left, manufacturer maybe? is it just me, or is some of the info redacted? was like that on lots of signs there, man i should have taken more fucking pics

stairs also went down 3 floors, as far as i could gather
>>1050131
just aproach it like you would camping in the woods, be the scariest thing out there, if the monsters are scared of you, what do you have to be afraid of?
>>1050135
I weigh like 150 pounds tho. Unless I go full Smeagol, I don't think I have much of a chance to scare away meth-heads and drug dealers.
>>1050140
Go with friends.
>150lbs
Become the fastest thing in and out of that building then.
>>1050140
its all in the atitude my friend.
buy a black GP-5 gas mask, hose and new filter, get a latex suit or Milsurp.
thats what i do nowadays. either that, or just be friendly with nayone you meet.
you either die because of it, or after it

there is an urbex general that's been up for months you fucking retards, check the catalog first
Has anyone ever thought of making some kind of base in one of these locations? Sorry for autistic question.

Not redacted, the blank white spaces are where they would stamp the information for that particular model.

>>1050164
Anybody have any suggestions for quality gas masks that filter shit. Do you need one at all? I am going to be exploring sewers.
>>1050886
Sewers as in down manholes into sanitary systems, or stormwater drains? if you mean the first one, don't.
This is literally my job, exploring sanitary sewers is an incredibly bad idea. Do not fuck around with enclosed confined spaces.
Chances are there's going to be little to no Oxygen in there. Instead you'll find Methane, Hydrogen Sulfide, Carbon Monoxide, etc. All of these will fuck you up and/or kill you.
Not only that, but by opening the manhole/access point up without the proper equipment you run the risk of letting Oxygen in - to the point where explosions are easily possible from any kind of spark/ignition source.
There's nothing down there worth seeing, let alone dying for.
>>1050940
Thanks, the ones I am going down are storm water drains with grates to see up into the streets.
>>1051295
Listen to that anon and don't go into the sewers. Aside form that, a paint mask or breather from home depot will do good when you explore buildings with exposed dust and building materials.

Why are those so dangerous (besides getting lost)

Anon, there's a lot that you need to know that you might not know.

Don't worry I'd never actually go in one (or urbex or go /out/)
I don't know why I come to this board

Thought I'd be spooked too at first.

>Fully Charged Phone (Camera/Flashlight)
Get a separate flashlight so you're not risking banging your phone up all the time. You can get a decent AA powered one for under $10 and not worry about it at all.
