Hey /out/. Could you recommend me a good pair of boots for hiking/hunting/general /out/ activities?
I buy a pair of boots probably once every 3 months at least, and usually by then I've worn the hell out of them. I buy them mostly from Big 5 sporting goods for cheap because I go through them so quickly.
I live in central Washington (Longview) so the forests around here are usually wet and muddy.
Also, should I wear my boots snug and fitting, or a bit loose?

Fuck that
OP, get a pair of waterproof Chippewas. Those bad boys come with vibram soles and are made in the US. When you wear the tread off there are various services that will resole them for you.

Jayzus, what kinda crap you buying?
I've had a nothing special, 100 quid pair of Brashers for 4 years /outing for about 15 hours a week in all weathers. And 8 weeks of solid hiking in that time.
May get some new ones next summer.

Hahaha. No. Are you kidding me? For extended periods of wet conditions, they suck. Mine started leaking after a couple of months, and I clearly don't spend nearly as much time in wet conditions as op.
Can we stop getting so many fucking boot threads. sage
You cant wear out boots in three months. Stop making shit up.
The only boots you need. Ariat sport outfitters.

Chippewa, wear them snug with thick socks. I got a pair last year and besides some scuffs and a little wear in the heel they fit like a glove.

triple-stitched for extra leakage lul

It's for riding horses.
Can second the Chippewas. I have a pair of 8" loggers that have lasted me 2 years so far 60-80 hours a week and usually soaked in hydraulic oil. Where most boots don't last a year in oil. Only down side is they're about $300 and fairly heavy.

>I wear out boots once every 3 months
Bullshit, I was a dairy farmer for 7 years and only wore through 3 pairs of redbands, and during my 6 years of infantry ive only worn through 2 boots.
Youre a fucking outist, you dont wear through shit.
Here's some advice i screencapped from another Bootsthread.
Check out 'Meindl' from Germany, specially Badile and Ortler, they have inverted seams (? in german it's zwiegenäht) and are pretty robust as they're meant for mountain hiking - not sure if that's as well good for hunting though. And i think they have some models for hunting too.
'Trabert' as well from Germany, focuses more on hunting, but the quality will have it's prize - around 500€ for a pair.
No experiences with boots yet, so i just checked them out online, as i'm thinking of getting a pair of Meindl Badile or Ortler when i saved up enough money.

Unlined Danner rain forests. Buy them once, get them repaired and resoled at local cobbler. You can go to Danner themselves if you need gore-tex lining replaced, but local cobbler is always cheaper for everything else.
