I've been looking for those pull string fireworks, but I realized I'm not 15 anymore and I can buy bigboy alarms now.
Whats the outdoor perimeter alarm you trust with your life?

Blanks require a FiD in NJ, I dont have one. I like the idea tho.

Mousetrap with some sort of pressure actuated explosive (percussion cups?) rigged up to a trip wire

What about Ramset cartridges? They're just .22 blanks not intended for use in firearms. I'd be surprised if they still need an FID.

I used these keychain rape alarms from GE. They have a keyring on either end and you just pull the one keychain out. It makes a pretty loud warble but not smoke detector loud.
I painted them camo and use braided camo spider fishline to anchor them. The amount of force needed to pull the pin is minimal so even smaller animals may trigger the alarm.
They are NOT waterproof and can go off when wet.
Buy them from Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon
