Only for certain day hikes. I'd rather not drag my feet through brush full of ticks unprotected if I can help it. If it's going to be wide cleared paths then sandals are comfy.

Tevas are my backup to boots
One trip, my boot delaminated and I was glad to have them
Sandals are fine on the trail as long as it's not too rocky

I hiked parts of the lost coast trail in Tevas but that's beach a large amount of the trail.

Just did a 5 mile hike in chacos, pretty great desu. Only compliant is no foot protection from snow, but thats my fault for being a dolt

I shared a bear shelter in the Smokies with a couple of AT through-hikers.
They remarked on my heel hooves, the result of V shaped feet and non-custom insoles (1970s tech)
Suggested I try sandals and wool socks on trails.
Still works 40+ years later.
I call them my DILLIGAF Shoes.
Crocs work, too.
