So I sweat way too much. It makes even slightly warm weather almost unbearable because I look like I jumped in a pond once I start sweating. Someone recently told me that wearing a kilt made a huge difference for them in comfort and dampness. Does anyone here have experience with wearing a kilt for outdoors purposes?
>>1016872
So your solution is to wear a fucking skirt and dribble ball and asscrack sweat all over the fucking trails for others to walk on?
>>1016872
Definitely takes care of sweat on your bottom area since the skirt doesn't come in contact with your skin as much as other options, plus the fact that air flows more freely. You're still going to be drenched on the top parts of your body.
My advice is go with a skirt with no top. It has the added advantage of scaring other people away. Leaving you with a nice, solitary out experience. Unless you're hot or something.
>>1016875
kek
Try before you buy. If your thighs touch each other at all when you walk you're going to have a shit time when they're sticky with sweat. Get ready to feel gross while you're moving and have friction burn at the end of the day.
Caution: Do not attempt if not Scottish or within the uk.
the biggest advantage of a kilt is that when you put it on you look like so much of a sperg you don't want to be seen so you never leave your house so you never exercise so you never sweat.
>>1016872
It's like a fedora for your butt.
>>1017472
No that would be all the milsurp you wear
Bro, ditch the literal skirt and at least get a black watch tartan kilt.
It's not that hard.
Those solid color abominations need to die.
With that said, I have hit the trails near my house in my Sportkilt more than once. Comfy af.
>>1016872
Just get some good underwear (boxers or jockies, no briefs), and use stick antiperspirant on your grundle and inner thighs.
>>1017822
Oh christ, that pic
>Renfest poet's blouse
>Fuckoff huge belt buckle
>"Celt"
>Knotwork on sporran
>Wrap brooch pinned on apron over the knee
American Scotiaboos REEEEE
Also
>Wearing Black Watch without being 3rd Royal Regiment.
Don't do this.
Fun fact: In the 18thC, the highland regiments in general ditched their kilts for breeches and trousers while fighting in the US during the revolutionary war. Having worn kilts in the VA summer, I can promise you there is reason for it.
Dude allahu ackbar that shit
Scotland isnt even warm wtf are they doing wearing skirts?
>>1016872
This is cultural appropriation, leave kilts to Commonwealth Domains. You have to wear skirts or pants
>>1018216
>Wearing Black Watch without being 3rd Royal Regiment.
>Or a Campbell.
>Or literally anyone who doesn't have their own tartan.
>Being that guy
Never be that guy
>>1018383
There are tons of generic plaids, and I give zero shits about the engineered, faux-exotic creation of clan tartans, but the whole Black Watch thing is about wearing military dress uniform. Its the equivalent of wearing marine dress blues, and smacks of tryhard douchbag.
>>1018419
It's a universal. That means it's one of a short list of traditional tartans that even the prissiest heritage organisations agree can quite correctly and respectably be worn by anyone. It's not 'military dress uniform'. It's the Clan Campbell tartan that's worn by 3 SCOTS because they raised them in the first place.
>>1018438
Scotfag here.
The Black Watch is a specific weave for the 3 SCOTS. Only overweight burgers who wank to Wha Wadna Fecht while pounding Walkers and Irn-Bru would wear it without service.
Why do Canada and the UK have a black watch but not Australia or New Zealand?
>>1016872
Sounds great
Make sure you pair them with some knee-high boots or gaits to protect those lower legs from sneks and spiky vegetation
Good luck
>>1018216
Not that poster
I agree with not wearing the black watch, but all your other comments are a bit anal.
Yeah, this thing or that thing might be inaccurate but tartan and a lot of the accessories are a modern invention. Even at the time they were experimented with to show wealth, status etc.
Hell, my clan badge has a motto in English, and it's one of the clan Chattan.
You really just have to accept that although it's a strong symbol of Scotland, it really has had the shit co-opted out of it, especially by the Americans. If you whine about it all that happens is that you come off like one of those pushy fucking post-colonial nignogs that screams at white people who have dreads.
>>1017257
...which would only be made worse with a couple of layers of fabric in between them aka trousers
>>1017822
>just get the black watch
I'm assuming you're American. Don't do that, ever. The black watch tartan is a specific military uniform. It's what you guys cringeworthily call "stolen valour"
>>1018705
Because he's advising against the stereotypical rennfaire look? They are solid points. Wear a kilt, but don't dress like a neckbeard "muh hurritage" from clan McBurger.
And I am totally stealing "scotiaboo".
>>1016872
>this thread again
It has been a long time.
>wank to Wha Wadna Fecht while pounding Walkers and Irn-Bru
>Not using wool grease from homespun sweater as lube
0/10, not true highlander
>>1018705
He's not whining. He's saying don't dress like a chode. Do you resemble that remark?
>>1018449
>Scotfag here
>uses image off Belfast tourist site
Sure thing, Paddy.
It's the fucking Campbell tartan, how do you not get that?
>>1018764
I would think the fact that anon is making fun of scotiaboos gargling down Irn-bru would make it apparent that picture is to insult them. BTW, Paddy is Irish, and you're a clueless MacBurger. Stay salty.
>>1018766
>implying the bad half of the norns aren't Paddies
So are ya a Hibee or a Hoop?
>>1018769
Im for Hibs, and no matter how many Danny Bhoy specials you watch on BBCA, you're still a MacBurger Scotiaboo

Im sorry that you believe Braveheart is a documentary.
But I thought the Black Watch tartan was a universal/open one?
>>1018861
It's pointless ascribing specific rules, it's all fake tourist shit. Made up by some Welsh guys. I feel no desire to identify with an arbitrary pattern 'exclusive' to my family.
>>1016872
I wear Utilikilts on warm days and wear long wool socks on less warm days.
I really like it. Havent had ticks or shit yet. I use repellant.
>>1018830
Look mate, we understand that being on the spectrum makes it difficult for you to recognize social cues, but we're trying to keep people like you from looking like a twat.
>>1018861
>>1018896
Black watch is specifically listed by uniform code for Royal Armed Forces in modern 21st century standards. Wearing black watch tartan is like wearing your country's military dress uniform, and is tacky as hell if you're not in the service at a fancy event.
>>1018929

I hate to break it to you...
>>1018708
Um... no?
only is you want dick ticks
because you will have them 100% guaranteed
>>1016872
Yeah. No.
Just go naked you autist.
I wear goa/baggy/harem pants all year round. They dry fast, combined with boxer shorts you feel like going naked, in winter they even act as insulation because of the air pocket around your legs.
My favourite hot weather shorts at the moment are Canterbury of NZ rugby shorts. They're all polyester, wick fairly well and dry very quickly.
>>1018735
No, he's being anal about what you're "supposed" to wear

>>1018954
Great logic there
It happens to people who stand up from their computers once in a while. You should give it a try.
>>1019289
Fuck off hipster fag
>>1019295
He's trying to keep people from dressing like MacBrurger renfest losers. Clownbro is doing god's work.
>>1019298
Yes, but you can buy police uniforms too. Doesnt mean its kosher.
I actually have my clan kilt and wouldn't wear that shit for anything other than family functions. Fuck that shit.
>>1018861
It is. Some sperg seems to think it's exclusive to an army regiment but doesn't have a goddamn clue what he's on about.
>>1016872
wear breathable and quick dry trousers (polycotton or nylon or something) WITHOUT underwear
A kilt is not for hiking. I am Scottish. I have climbed Ben Lomond in a kilt. Enjoy your ticks, enjoy the kilt being stupid heavy. Enjoy having no pockets.
Don't even get me started on sport kilts.
I own a few kilts and i hike and camp in them i have never gotten a dick tick it's never been super heavy even the wool one i own. So am i just superhuman or is everyone on here just a bunch of weak cowards?
Also >>1019540 get a sporran.
>>1019597
>get a sporran
>implying you can even wear a kilt without one.
away and eat some shite
as for weight, for example
16oz regimental weave on a 8 yard kilt is over 6lb
then get it wet.
knock yourself out and hike in a kilt if you want but guaranteed any Scot you cross paths with is gonna think you;re a giant fanny
>>1019697
Someone sounds butthurt. I'm sorry for calling you a name. You can wear a casual kilt or even a great kilt with out a sporran.
>>1019829
you can wear a casual kilt without a sporran if you want, but you really shouldn't.
and we're not talking about great kilts, seriously doubt anyone would want to hike in one of those.
the sporran is there for the modesty of the user as much as as a useful pocket.
You sound like someone who likes the allure of the kilt but doesn't understand the concept fully. If you want your legs and groin to breath, wear a pair of shorts.
>>1019534
Well you fucking taint sucking yank, you'd think when multiple people are telling you something, it would get through your skull.
Its not illegal, its fucking cunty and tacky like your mum.
Don't be that creepy bastard. Don't wear a skirt. It's scary enough for a lone woman to pass by a normal guy on a trail. No one needs to deal with this shit.
>>1019920
