What knives do you edc?

I edc a O1 tool steel 3in fixed blade w/ micarta handles, custom.
>>
Bark River North Country with desert ironwood handles
>>

That's a really beautiful knife
>>
>>1015074
Thanks, i got it last xmas, but haven't really had a chance to use it in the wild. Luckily im going /out/ this weekend so hopefully ill get some use out of it
>>
>>1015069
I'm more of a stainless and man made material for scales fag, but damn anon, that knife's a beauty.
>>
>>1015182

Handles I meant.
>>
>>1015185

Scales is what people call the handles in the knife world. You were right the first time.

it's a meme I know, but it cuts cordage like no ones business and in a self defense situation the emerson wave opener is amazing and the knife will end a fight instantly with a gut shot.
>>
Spyderco Delica 4 mostly; I carry a flat ground one daily and a fully serrated for climbing.

I carry a CS Ti-Lite if I have to go into the city, where there's a very, very small chance I'd need to stab an attacker.
>>
>>1015048
Leek. I've got 3, a stainless framelock with partially serrated blade, a blackwash linerlock with plain edge, and one I don't know WTF it started as but found it onnatrail after it'd been converted to a fully-serrated one, with aftermarket grip scales.
>>
>>1015166
Go fuckin figure
>>
>>1015048
Leatherman Crater because it's decent for the price and I don't give a fuck if I lose it.

Also either a Gerber Curve or Dime on my keychain.

>>1015203
>knives for "self defense"
In a self defense situation you either draw your gun or you run (or if another guy with a knife rushes you, you don't have time to do either so you bleed out).
>>
>>1015259
I love the delusion people have with the idea of using knifes for defence. They're totally useless, there's no point having one as a weapon at all without decades of specialised training. But if someone rushes you you're fucked, you'll die even if you're armed with a gun its hopeless they're so lethal its scary.

make your mind up, obviously they do work as weapons and you don't need to be extremely trained to just stab the fuck out of someone.
>>
>>1015048
Sak spartan or case stockman .
Both cheap, easy to sharpen, thin and light enough that you can easily forget about them in your pocket. And not a big deal deal if I drop em down a storm drain by accident.

>>1015203
Get in a lot of knife fights, do ya?
>>
>>1015350
Having a knife is better than nothing, I know 1st hand.

The problem with a knife as a self defense weapon is unless you know how to use it or rather when it can become something that gets you killed rather than saves your life.

The second you pull out a knife the stakes of that fight or you as a perceived threat goes straight to "this is to death". You only, only, only pull a knife on someone when they are close enough to immediately stab them, and you are sure that this isn't some bar brawl because just like a gun you don't shoot to maim you stab to kill and you stab or slash till they are dead.

But again, the amounts of times when you get into a fight and a good scenario to do this pops up is slim but again, better than not having anything.
>>
>>1015350

Stabbing has killed people far longer than firearms have.

Knife training is a meme. You just need to grip the knife tightly and stab, stab and stab until the threat is stopped.

Practicing stabbing water jugs with clothes over them is a decent analogue for a torso.
>>
>>1015048

Spyderco Delica

The old model was better IMO- Lighter, 1side grind (the old model with a metal clip, not the bastard plastic clip)

Dat Kobalt looked sweet until I saw it had that locking back bullshit. Those $10 Stanley ones are pretty light and you can use it all one-handed which is nice when I have a computer or phone in the other hand.

That piece of shit Stanley that used to be yellow is still opening packages of your favorite Mountain Dew varieties 3+ years later.

Also pic related is legit my work EDC, plus the 2nd iPhone I used to take the pic. I'll be damned if I'm going to carry a full sized utility knife in my pocket too.

I've been carrying a Lionsteel TRE G10 for the last 6 months or so, but I just broke down and bought this. Wanted to try it for myself after hearing all the hype.

Worst case scenario I can turn around and sell it for $50 or so less than I paid, so it's not as high-risk as you'd expect a $350 knife to be.

You haven't lost it after 20 years? That's bretty gud.

Also I'm a big fan of that CRKT SPEW I bought and would reccommend the Minimalist to people too. I wanted something better than gas station tier and figured I would get a folder. So when I bought that CRKT, I was worried that I would hate carrying it around any time besides fishing. But with the way it sits horizontally on the belt, I don't even notice the thing is there. A few times I have been going to an event and forgot the thing was on my belt and had to run back to the car before I went thru the metal detectors. That thing is definitely easier to carry around all day than any folder in your pocket.

heres a cool tip. if you need a curved work knife, you dont want a karambit, you want a hawkbill pruner. my first EDC was a 90s camillus hawkbill. EDC'd all during my living history days
i can attest that hawkbills make REALLY good cord cutters. pretty much anything that can use a pull cut, with a excellent tip to go with it. get a rod sharpener, and its just as good as a clip blade

great job falling for the meme man. Now you have a knife made of cheese, that can't hold an edge for shit if you try to cut something with it, and you're giving money to a douchebag who will beat you up if you even mention to him that his heat treat is shit.
>>
>>1022104
I actually didn't fall for anything, I was well aware of the complaints about the Sebenza, including yours if you're sharpening/SpydieChef anon. However, a big part of what I enjoy about the knife hobby is testing and reviewing new things, and the controversy and hype around the Seb was what made me want to try one for myself. I also noticed that pretty much all of the reviews out there were done with the old 58-59 HT and not with the new 59-60, and I want to see if the change makes the difference.

I figure the worst case scenario is that I hate it and sell or trade it off for a $50-100 loss, not that big of a deal.

Also, said douchebag didn't get anything from me, he divorced a couple of years ago and his wife ended up with the company. I believe the new HT was her doing, too.
>>
>>1022280
oh, I didn't know about the divorce. Serves him right I guess.

I just use Harbor Freight pocket knives. They're like $4 and are pretty good for sharpening sticks, feathering wood, fishing, cutting rope, etc. They sharpen pretty well. I just hate that they have a dull/round point so it's hard to stab into things or cut zip ties.
