Go with a gshock, it's the only decent choice really. I went with the gwm5610 because it has solar charging. Pic related.
If you're not familiar with them, g shocks are made by Casio and are renowned for being indestructible. Water proof, shock proof, dust proof, temperature proof etc. The all have heaps of features, countdown, alarm, stopwatch and so on but some of the more expensive ones have altimeters and tide maps for special uses.
