Where about in Iceland?
>Pic related I'm in Iceland too.
Well, since there is already a photo thread maybe this one will be about Iceland.
I'm going there in a few months. Renting a camper van. Planning on a lot of hiking, probably nothing overnight though. What do I need to know, is there anything uniquely challenging about Iceland? Any gear you would reccomend? Will be primarily sleeping and cooking in the van, and visiting bars, restaurants, and the odd hotel or air bnb as we find them (looks pretty sparse outside of Reykjavik, which is a ok with me)

This pic was taken at Fjaðrárgljúfur in the southeast of iceland. Very beautiful and comfy country

You should be fine but keep in mind that not every town has a grocery store or gas station so make sure you're staying on the safe side when buying those. Also the only towns we visited that had a bar scene were Reykjavik and Akureyri. Alcohol is expensive as fuck in Iceland so buy in the duty free section of the airport when landing. Bonus seemed to be the cheapest grocery store. Also it will get cold and the weather does change pretty fast there. Can't think of much other advice but iceland is a beautiful country with very friendly and helpful people plus everyone speaks English which is great.

Same boardwalk, different section.

Some flowers further on up the trail.
>>1005229
Some old burnt tree, even further along the trail.
>>1005230
A tree stump so big I prolly coulda fit three of myself inside of it. This one isn't from Osceola, it's from a tract along the Suwanee River, about an hour's drive south of Osceola.

Back to Osceola, I saw this spindly tree out of the corner of my eyes and couldn't help but get a lil creeped out.
>>1005238
The rest of my pics are apparently too big so I'll end my small dump with this. At first glance you'd think it's out as fuq but the lake and trees around it only barely hide the fact it's in the middle of a fairly large college town.
>>1005241
Huh. I could had sworn I included the pic in that post but apparently not.

I don't get it. Is this like train spotting?
>>1007070
Wait what do you mean? I'm not chasing/after anything in particular, I just like to make recordings of interesting places. The same way some people carry a camera with them and take photos of places they go, I bring recording gear. Recordings like this are interesting and immersive, and some people like it.

first such episode was at a train tunnel

on a steep embankment late afternoon.
next day I returned swapped out the
batteries and memory card restarted
the recorder. It seems this spot is a

2nd episode: a fishing lake at Muscatatuck nat. wildlife refuge
>refuge closes at sundown; perfect place to leave recorder overnight.
<hoping to get loon calls sunrise bird chorus.
>young couple are fishing on the pier, Tall dude with buff redhead girl
>they watch me as I walk around lake taking pictures
>I stop and quickly setup the Sony. walk back to car and leave.
>later listening to the audio I-65 is much louder than I hoped
>the couple apparently decided to go walk around the lake too
>dude starts putting the moves on redhead right next to my
>recorder. she alternately squeals, whoops, and moans
>finally saying "not here I don't want this now"
>guys sounds dejected as they go back to the pier.
can't share that one

noice! was it all froggy and noisy like a good springtime swamp?
>>1013963
Spring is very late here this year, so it was eerily quiet. I don't think we even heard any birds except one cuckoo. Saw a frog and a deer though. No bugs either, which was nice.

Kek, teenedagers! I've always been rather hopeful that my rig will pick up people walking through the woods or doing something stupid but it hasn't happened yet. That pic of the hill by the train tracks looks EXACTLY like the hill by the train tracks back home! It would be hilarious if someone was recording down there sometime while we were stumbling around drunk and retarded.
But anyway, nice! Sounds like they were having lots of fun.

Where are good places to go /out/ in Germany/Austria? I fly into Frankfurt in a few months and will be traveling east.
Went fishing off the Brazos river. Lost my lure on maybe a fifty pound soft shell. Did some swimming and got my shoulders burned up. Met another fisherman who sold me some good bud. It was a good day.

Ran into this guy while mushroom hunting today. Eastern Hognose snake. I didn't know that at the time. My first reaction was, "Is that a fucking cobra?" I guess they puff up, hiss real loud, and then play dead if still being threatened. I left him alone before he played dead.

Kern River above Lake Isabella.
Climbed Mt. Hood yesterday. Started at 11:40 pm on Friday, summitted at 6:00 am, down at the car by 9:30 am. Most of the climbing was done in the dark. Hood is a fucking zoo with casuals, but they all typically start well after midnight (1-2 am.) There was a huge line of hundreds of headlamps below us. Pearly gates was a super huge clusterfuck with idiots who had no prior experience trying to push their way down, not yielding to people coming up, fucking rope teams going up a 40 degree pitch, etc. Honestly amazed I didn't see someone get sucked into the Bergschrund.
