>le cultured grand tour through le italy xDD
>brings over the standard new money rapper mobile
lol. nvm that it's uglier than the challenger
also their banter isn't anywhere close as good as it was before. wish this whole grand tour shit didn't take place.
anyway. opinions on grand tour format over top gear?
dayum, he's really getting old quickly now
Does he even reference Dacias anymore?
If no, then it's zombie gear.
>>17887798
No, Amazon are too pussy to let them for fear the BBC will sue them into none existence.
>>17887798
uh they had a duster in episode 2 but I don't remember james saying anything about it
PS. the new 4x4 duster is a better buy than any VAG product fact
>>17887809
What does BBC have to do with Dacias? Legitimately asking btw
>>17887847
Yeah, I actually want one now.
>>17887850
I guess the running joke could be considered BBC property, as absurd as that sounds
>>17887847
>an old Clio on stilts built by Romanians is better than VAG
I don't even like VW but come on
>>17887855
I see. Yeah, that's sounds like some shit they'd pull tbf.
>>17887856
>>an old Clio on stilts built by Romanians is better than VAG
>>17887856
beats overpaying for a bunch of unreliable shit mobiles designed around planned obsolescence and built by Romanians
>>17887865
>>17887855
He's also not allowed to use "Oh cock" since BBC has copyright
Grand Tour is terrible
The production value is high but ALL the jokes are terrible. Celebrity braincrash was unfunny the first time and they just repeat it EVERY fucking episode. One episode there's a running joke of Hammond driving a loud muscle car and that joke is repeated every 5 minutes. The American is terribly unfunny and what's the point of using a mobile studio if the movies from the episode are in totally other continents anyway?

>>17887865
a while back Clarkson said something about having to say "for legal reasons, this scenery is shit"
the whole idea that you can effectively copyright somebody's personality is patently absurd
it also probably raises some ethical issues
>>17887887
>copyright somebody's personality
so that's why it doesn't feel like the old gang innit? I think banging up on hammond and him being le quirky middle aged guy loving american cars is the only thing that stayed
>>17887909
Yup
Hammond crashing expensive cars is still a thing
>>17887887
>the whole idea that you can effectively copyright somebody's personality is patently absurd
It certainly hasn't been the case in other shows they've done. I guess since they've not been car shows it's not a problem.
>>17887883
Fair criticism desu.
Top Gear probably peaked around 2007 or so, with the USA road trip and them making a cover of Red Light Spells danger, there was a lot of good chemistry there.
>>17887887
>somebody's personality
BBC might argue that it's the character's personality that was created by the Top Gear script writers. Don't forget that Top Gear was just as scripted but for some reason it felt more natural. I think nerves about offending BBC copyright made the script for Grand Tour a lot worse.
