I am going to be commuting about an hour and a half once a week and I will need a legit windshield for my Moto Guzzi V7. I notice there is pretty much nothing made specifically for this bike.

Any of you have experience or seen a full size windshield that fits well?

Pic related is a National Cycles Plexistar 2 on a Moto Guzzi. This is more or less what I'm looking for, but they don't sell this windshield anymore.

Thoughts on Kawasaki Vulcan 750? Thinking about getting a cruiser, it seems fine for me, lowest weight and best power out of mid cc cruisers.
>>
>>17882426
>can't reliably do a U turn
Use body position, throttle, clutch, and rear brake together to slow the bike and lean it over to tighten the turn even further. It's the opposite of high speed body position. Shoulders follow bars, body on the outside of the turn, but not by a lot. Alternatively go fast and lean it to the max.
>power wheelies in second gear
Don't whack open the throttle like an ape.

It's a fine bike if you're willing to learn how to ride. A terrible bike if you're expecting to apply bicycle-level skills like "hurp durp just turn the bars right?"

Is the R1 being super uncomfortable, even for a super bike, just a meme or is it true? Seriously considering a R1S to replace my sv650 in about a year.

if you have trouble kickstarting something, you are mentally handicapped.
>>
>>17883112
If the bike is tuned perfectly and the engine is in good health so it starts first kick every time, it is only a moderate pain in the ass.

Kicking once on flat ground isn't that big of a deal. Kicking several times in an awkward position on a hill to start it after it has been dropped is a real nuisance.

Got my deepest leans tonight lads. First was on a right hander. A car was approaching from the other side so I dipped my lights and when I put them back up the turn had tightened on me. At that moment time froze and I had an epiphany. Keith was standing beside me, I looked him in the eye and he looked at me. I knew what to do. Time whips back into full speed and I dive in deep. Shat my self a topper but it was great. Totally freed me up for the rest of the ride.

I recently got an R1 and can ride it 30-45 minutes without feeling uncomfortable. It is more agressive than an SV(I came from an FZ-6), but within a week you should be good to do an hour+. I haven't yet because I need to get my clutch checked out.

The one thing I will mention is that it can get hot af neat the engine. Couple that with 100°+ weather and it can be a little much.

Baikus for reference.

Same here. There are a couple azanons that post. Good news is we're out of the worst parts for a while. If you wear some thicker jeans or riding pants, it's probably not as bad. Also, wear talk socks. Helps with engine heat, but also heat from the air after the wind pushes your pants away.

But Ruckuses, they're awesome but its hard to think of laying out 2500 for a damn 50cc scooter. People do some great shit to them, though. Hopefully ill be able to post a pic of mine when the swap is done

Yeah seriously do not buy a bike until you are confident with emergency stops using both brakes, riding steadily at 5mph/8kph or below, maintaining throttle control over bumps, taking 90º street corners at above 20mph (32kph for you commies) and doing U turns in about two car widths, and do not buy a bike that you can not ride so skillfully on.

Use the clutch slowly when you first take off. Since most bikes have wet clutches it's okay to ride it a bit. The clutch is not an on off switch.
Also, most bikes should be able to go with no throttle, just release the clutch slowly. For your first take off, that would probably be a good idea.
Just practice finding the bite point. Ride the clutch for a couple of meters, stop and repeat. Do that about 5 times and you'll be much better at taking off.

Bigger bikes aren't bad to learn on, it's just that extremely irresponsible kiddos want to see if it can do 200mph and then run into a corner/traffic they can't handle. If anything, a bigger bike is better for shit like hill starts and low speed crap because the engine has enough power to make it harder to stall out without also having to hold a "fast idle" with the throttle.

there are lots of better bikes made for manlets and women than a fucking dirtbike that's renowned for being tall.

Maybe you wanted a wr250x not the wr250f?
the seat height is 35 inches instead of 38 inches and the engine does not need to be rebuilt at 150 hours of riding.

That's interesting about the height, I'll look into the other variations. Thank you.

Literally anything that isn't a dual sport/dirtbike

Cruisers are usually good for girls and midgets because of their low seat heights. Cruisers, not harley sportsters. Most sportbikes are also shockingly short but I have like a 34" inseam.

Rightfully, because we wouldn't buy an uglier, objectively inferior ninja 300.

I've got pic related. A 1999 1st gen SV650S.

Why is it sometimes hard to find the neutral gear?
>>
>>17886216
that is just how a dog box is.
there is also a false neutral inbetween each of your gears that you can find by disengaging say 3rd gear but not engaging 4th.
other than that possible your lever is loose i guess.

You don't have synchros, but dogs that slam into each other
If it's really hard you can try by keeping the clutch in for 5 to 10 seconds and/or rocking the bike back and forth

try adjusting your clutch, maybe it is not fully engaging.
or how many km on the bike?

Police are not the concern. $110 AUD minor defect ticket that police will never care enough in general intercepts to check for/write is not the concern.
Crashing into a $150,000 porsche and doing $50,000 in damage and having no relevant insurance because your bike is identified as being unrestricted is the concern.

cb400sf is not all that slow really, they top out at around 220km/h in 6th gear which is off the clock for the bike anyway (speedo ends at 190km/h) and they do 0-100kmh in just under 5 seconds depending on the rider.
I had mine for about 4 and a half years, was probably more painful seeing it go than getting a new bike.

anyway he said he is in the UK, they can't get them there and they are too powerful for a2 laws even if they could.

You have to have a balanced attitude.
There is a time and a place for hectic wheelies and shit. People that ride recklessly during rush hour for example make it difficult for the rest of us.

I went for my learner's permit. Its a 2 day course, first day is learning the basics, riding around cones and a written test (You stop at stop signs, always use your indicators and shit like that). Second day is the practical test and they take you out on the road. I got really nervous and crashed the bike into the fence before I even got out of the compound.

About a year later I went for my full license. It was bucketing down, could barely see, and was in a rush. With barely any wet weather experience I fucked up on the highway and came sliding off my bike. Some kind dude stopped his car and helped pick me and my bike off the road because I was still in a bit of shock. I was a bit bloody as I sat there on the side of the road checking the damage but the bike was fine (apart from a mangled headlight, bend indicators and a fair few scratches), so I took it around the block a couple times, declared it to be safe and headed off to take the test. When I got there I had to fill out a bit of paperwork beforehand, as I was doing that the instructor went out and had a look at what I was riding. He remembered seeing me sitting on the side of the road and called me out on it. I completely dropped my spaghetti at that point but he was just having me on. I think he forgave a lot of mistakes I made just because I was clearly uneasy in the wet weather after the incident.
>>
>>17886478
