Except GSi was the badging Opel used for performance models before they switched to OPC.
Now take alook at the Regal GS, which does get the turbo V6 unlike the Insignia (and Commodore). It looks identical to the GSi shown here, much like the previous Regal GS that looked identical to the OPC but only got the turbo 4.
They've just switched the engine options around for the US- and global market.

No idear what Regal is doing but Opel announced an OPC version in Europe for 2018. Maybe not for North America since you already have an V6 in the Regal GS

Alright, performed some Google-fu and apparently Opel is making a V6-powered OPC version, which is rumored to be called the "Commodore SV6" in Australia. Apparently it's getting a more aggressive bodykit than the Regal GS too, and it should be available as a wagon like the old one.

The rivalries and beef between GTI and GSi fanboys were always entertaining.
They hated each other so much.

Even up to this day you can still witness some of them getting kind of pissed at each other or at least getting passive aggressive when someone mentions either VW or Opel.
