Hey guys, I'm going to go look at a merkur xr4-ti tomorrow that's for sale near me for about $2000. It looks nice and clean, registered, smogged, and run and drives with only some minor issues. (Cracked windshield and it needs new struts). I'm looking for a project so that's okay
Is there anything I should look out for? Why do these cars seem undervalued?

They're neat because rare, and unreliable because SVO's 2.3 turbo. I say get it and keep it clean. Someone will pay you 10k for it in a couple years.

They are cheap because everyone forgets they exist.
The 2.3 turbo motor is pretty overbuilt. So long as the turbo has been well kept and the electronics haven't rattled loose it'll run well.
Look underneath the car to check the pinch welds, that's pretty much the death of most of these cars.
Also, buy mine. I need money for my other cars.
