used to have an 00 4x4 5 speed that had 138k for 5k. only issues I had were the fuel sender crapped out the next day (recalled issue, dealer towed it and paid for the fix) and 2 years later the distributor died (another recalled issue, replaced it with a $60 chingchong one and it worked great). other than that great car, never let me down even at -30... until my wife crashed it.

Look up milkshake of death
I went with a hit and repaired 04 4runner v8 (290km) for 4k cad instead.
Drives better than a clear report car. Also has newer parts in it. Just make sure there is no structural dmg.
Tldr; anything over 2k is a waste on the xterra

That is only on the 05 and up with the 4.0l the coolant and tranny fluid mixes
The 98-04 3.3l one doesn't have that problem
