That's weird, in the US the MX-5 2.0L is quoted at 29bpg vs 24bpg for the 86. But another thing to note is that the Skyactiv scores far better on emissions. The engine in the 86 will not be legal to sell in a new car here after 2020, while Skyactiv-G will pass CARB until at least 2025.
