It's a shame. I love my Pontiac. Luckily I bought it just as the brand got axed. 2k for 120,000 miles with little maintenance is good.

Buick is considered an affordable luxury brand in China. People there want to be seen as affluent and higher class (while still being middle class) so they buy Buicks, Lexus, Infiniti in large numbers. BMWs, Benz, and the like are import taxed and tariffed to high hell so only the really rich can buy them (literally triple the cost here in the US)
Buick is more or less dead anyways, because most of their cars being sold today are just rebadged Opels
