Why did Honda even make the CRX when it was pretty much the same thing as the Civic, atleast back in the late 80's/early 90's. What was Honda trying to do exactly?

No idea, but they kept it up for a while. The Integra was basically a different Civic.

Crx was meant to be more sporty, it is the civic si mechanic, susp. And brakes, but with shorter wheel base, slightly lighter and with 2 seats.

Pretty much this, they look almost identical in this picture, I reckon Honda just said fuck it and wanted to branch out the successful Civic into something sportier.
