Is there any sort of standard for early ECU instruments? Recent stuff is CAN bus (or if you're extra lucky, has a standard OBD port), old stuff is direct cable drive but in between.. you get a single mystery SPEED SENSOR wire to the speedo and mystery single wire from the ECU to the tachometer.
Is there any sort of 'standard' communication method (e.g. PWM, pulse-timing, raw proportional-voltage/current etc), or is it a case of everyone doing their own thing and just having to bite the bullet and stick a 'scope on the line with the bike running and seeing what you get?
>>
>>17854431
you fucker i literally did not fail because of dropping the bike, i dropped the bike HOURS before the actual test. i failed because i went out of bounds in the cones too many times.

i lost no points because of the completely unrelated drop that occurred two hours before the test. i lost points because i was not proficient with u turns.

anyway, you only fail from dropping if you drop DURING the final test, or if you drop the bike twice during normal training.

Yeah, I took it before I got my first bike. The instructor was like the cool science teacher type, real chill. I was super stressed about the test, but I think I scored top out of the 5 or so people there. I was the youngest by at least 15 years. Only went outside the lines in the u-turn box, no foot down though.

If all you want is to go fast you can just get a literbike, which I completely understand, that just isn't what I'm looking for.

They're not intended to do the same thing. I'd have to sit on a Pani and see, but I mean I commute on my bike everyday, and I've heard the Pani is a spine breaker. Also the exhaust melts your dick, especially in Arizonan weather.

And damn, I'm pretty sure the S and the 959 still have like ~2k difference where I am. I'd get the standard supersport thought personally. Maybe with the optioned quickshifter.

They're so badly designed too. I forgot how bad it is in the middle of Phoenix, I'm normally only ever in Mesa or Tempe. It's a fucking mess.

Yeah nah, fairing lowers are good for winter riding.

Half fairings are good in theory but most of them are fucking useless, they have tiny coverage and non adjustable screens.
>>
>>17857566
in my experience every fault a KTM has is because of the dealer fucking something on the bike.

take my 450exc-r for an example, to keep the warranty the dealer had to do the first service, now i have no idea why they took it off in the first place but they removed the breather hose and left it off, next ride it sucked in a nice amount of dirt and was totaled.
the dealer then had the cheek to say a stick knocked it off to which my reply was go pull the breather hose off that bike on the show room floor which he could not do so i walked out with a new engine.

still what a fuck around.

So Lowe's/home Depot/harbor freight/ace are still closed from irma and my front tire still has a nail in it

How do I remove the front wheel without the male 17mm hex socket?
>>
>>17858390
Or rather, remove the front axel? I already removed the pinch bolt and brak caliper fasteners
>>
>>17858390
You don't need that. Moron. Someone already told you this.
Just undo the pinch bolts and whack it out
>>
>>17858399
Whackin it is what I do best senpai

I'll give it a shot
>>
>>17854394
I suppose it could be done. There are new electric bikes. One of our local police departments use them for patrolling their city.

Good for sneaking up on drug dealers.

>>17857435
>heat generated on a bike

The IC motor generates that heat. Electric bikes would be designed around the heat from the electric motor and battery losses.
>>
>>17858403
It's not working
And apparently every cb500f but the American Spec 500f gets one of the sockets in the tool kit
Fuck me
>>
>>17858454
Calvin what r u doing
Undo the bolt all the way on the other side
And push the axle thru from the other way

That's retarded. Genuinely. Usually they are at least protruded a bit with a hole so you can stick a screwdriver or something through it

How far would you go for an old bike?

I found this beauty for sale at $1000 dollars, but it looks like it's but dropped at least once (from the look of the scratches at low speeds), the fuel tank has been patched, and the seat has a hole. The guy selling it was also kind of awkward (red flag?).

I'm not afraid of mechanical work but I don't want to spend every waking day working on my bike.

What I did was find 2 nuts that fit into the hex then put them on a bolt and crank them tight again each other to basically make a shafty male hex

Are there any how-to guides out there for rebuilding a DR650 motor? Mine's lying in pieces in my garage and I haven't touched it in so long I've forgotten how a lot of the pieces go back together. The transmission is completely apart because I had to replace 3rd and 5th, as is the head because the cam was fucked.
