List of good bikes made in the US: EBR 1190 maybe, some really expensive electric bikes that get 90 miles of range with an eager throttle hand
List of good bikes made in denver, colorado:
>>
I crashed my bike a couple weeks ago, it was raining and I was going 100km/h, I slid down the road for a little bit. My neck was sore for a few days and that was all. The bike was fine too, only the knob on the end of the handlebars was scratched and the mirrors got lose.

The thing is that I should be sore still, my bike should have been more fucked. I think I am actually dead. Like I should be buried in the ground by now. It all feels the same just slightly more shitty than before.

How can I tell if I actually died in that crash or not?

Learner bikes are a dumb meme and cycle ergo disregards a lot of important details that can make a leaned over seating position surprisingly comfy.

The idea of a starter bike is a one size fits all government scheme to ensure that the idiots among us can not go too fast and then fail to steer while going 100+ mph. They're the norm in countries with socialzied healthcare because more idiots crashing = more tax burdens. I think most people are capable of making their own decisions, and if they do, anything bad that happens is their fault. Like crashing, or wasting time and money on a slow as shit budget grade beginner bike. Americans who ignore that starter bike nonsense and just get what they like to ride do so rightfully.

It's a cb250 nighthawk
Right now it needs
>new clutch
>Carb rebuild and rejet
>Forks straightened
>New tires
>Exhaust welding or replacement
>New chain
>New front sprocket
>New rear sprocket
>New brake cables
>New clutch cable
>New air filter
>Oil change
And that's just off the top of my head
>>
>>17851285
A lot of those are wear items

The carbs don't need rejetted. Gaskets are $20. The clutch shouldn't run you more than $100. Welding the exhaust could be as cheap as $0. Ask a local welder or a friend with a welder. Forks could be a couple hundred but that's alright, the bike itself is easily worth $2k. Get them off a salvage bike and they could be cheaper.
>>
>>17851282
Fuck off nobike
Small, light bikes are fun as fuck and a great way to learn
>>
>>17851295
>Nighthawk
>2k
They cost a little more than that new
The exhaust is aluminum. If anyone is going to do aluminum welding for free I'm gonna have some serious questions for them

As far as the forks go, the forks aren't bent themselves, just misaligned from a lowside. I just need to undo the triple clamps and bounce on it a few times from what I can tell (smacking the wheel against the wall only helped temporarily)

I guess I'll just have to fix it over the course of a few months
>>

>>
>>17851278
>First crash?
Nah, I've had a few. Bit this one was something else. The lack of damage is concerning. Something should be broken, my body, the bike, just something. Even the phone in my pocket didn't suffer a scratch even though it was what I landed and slid on for a few metres.

I am totally dead at this point.
>>
>>17851311
If you're a weekend warrior and exclusively ride as a hobby, yes, but the only thing stopping you from learning on a 600 like everyone else is your own lack of testicles.

I remember now, on second thought yeah it is shitty stainless, but it's rusted through and pretty much beyond welding. My friend said it'd be as bad as aluminum, that's where that came from

Good. If you don't have passion or patience then you shouldn't be riding motorcycles in the first place.

We all know the typical motorcycle rider has poor impulse control, that's why 99% of them end up in gangs or criminal activities, by weeding out the low IQ morons the community will be far better off.

>>
>>17851418
are you sure that's not because your motorsports culture already had circuit racing in it while the US was too poor to construct pavement tracks and only came as close as motocross and sand racing?

125cc bikes don't teach you to turn. having ten racing schools and two well constructed, maintained, and ACCESSIBLE circuits in one country half the size of montana does.

125cc bikes are, as you said and I said, a one size fits all/catch all plot by the government to lower death rates by delaying big bikes for people until they're older. which isn't a problem for the US because we have too many idiots anyways and we don't pay for eachother's road rash.

The exhaust is the only prohibitive part of that list. Buy the 2-1 system off webike, and it will cost as much as one side. Chain and sprocket can be found cheaply, and you can cut your own cables. Buy a cat litter pan and rebuild the carbs yourself.
I'm to any boneyard and I guarantee they'll have seven rebels you can pull a clutch out of. Or buy the whole engine and tune it to run higher.
Also, your oil is screened. It's literally the cost of liquid.

If you need any manual pages, post while I'm asleep and come back tomorrow. The little twin is super easy to learn to wrench on.

>>
>>17851499
No, its the government's job to protect its citizens. The other alternative is forcing you to spend some ludicrous amount of time in a drive school, which would cost you a lot more money than a dinky little bike.

Its not just the adrenaline junkies going 300km/h, its the people around them, its the people that are traumatised because some faggot goes under their wheel, its the pile ups they cause, its the traffic hazards and all the other bullshit that goes along with it.

The government can't teach you how to ride a bike, you can only get that from experience, it can however restrict you and force you to have a safer learning experience. Not just for yourself but for everyone else around you.

The government contracts penal duties to private corporations. These companies then bribe politicians for larger grants and use prisoners for slave labor under the guise of vocational rehabilitation.
The legislators that apportion these funds bare no personal cost to facilitate this exchange, and can lie about being "tough on crime" because they advocate gulags over rehab.

Why do people assume the state needs to profit? Capitalist propaganda has destroyed the paradigmatic framework needed for meaningful discussion of any fiscal issue.

It is the function of a state to perform social duties a population wants, but that are larger than any individual to handle properly. In the US, that could be defined as disaster relief and defense. In civilized countries, healthcare and worker's protections.
There is no profit about it. Actually, a surplus is a bad thing because it implies that taxation rates exceed expenditure....therefore taxes need to be lowered.

Have a bike so this is on topic.

You, and the implied reply are misdirecting the beneficiary of this relationship. A business owner is an individual, who seeks a profit. A legislator is an individual, seeking profit through bribes.
The government is an institution, has no will of its own, and the money that is apportioned to it comes from taxpayers. Because the legislator and profiteer are distantly removed from the scale of "taxpayers," they hold no personal injury to this money being spent.

If only there were more people with your mindset in the world. There is some insane statistics out there but if I recall correctly like 90% of bike crashes are from user errors, like taking a corner too fast or running a red light, some truly moronic things. If you obey the road rules (something that the majority of motorbike users are literally incapable of doing because they are retarded) then you should be perfectly fine.

You'll make some mistakes, but its nothing to worry about, just like a regular push bike you may end up with a few scratches. Speed limits are there for a reason, if you follow them you won't get mangled.

Baird was sarcastic, but I mean it. It literally is the government's job to protect people from becoming danger to self and others. In the given situation, doing time on an underpowered bike increases situational awareness and teaches riding fundamentals in a lower risk environment. Less crashes means less obstructed traffic, less chain-reactions involving other vehicles.
Being licensed to ride a supersport should literally be akin to licensing a semi truck. There's nothing freedom related about it.

Never going to happen, though. With Harley as the national manufacturer of choice, putting any reasonable size or wattage limit in place makes their entire lineup out of reach.

Ay man, I'm about to buy a CB400. What are your thoughts on it?
I test rode one, but completely forgot everything I was supposed to check. It felt good to ride, the throttle response was good and amazingly smooth. However, as I went around a roundabout, it seemed to resist my counter steer a bit. The might not be the best was to descride it, but it felt odd I'm not sure if it was normal or not, as the only other road bike I've ridden was a Z300 during my licence test course. I'm hoping it's just the bike being different.
The one I'm looking at is 2012 with 19,000km on it. Seems really clean.
>>
>>17851532
Riding a motorcycle, if you're not hooning, is a lot like driving a car.

The only differences are people can't see you, and in the event of a crash, you're significantly more likely to get hurt or die. That's the best way I can explain it

i had mine for 4 and a half years only just recently got rid of it.
No bad words to say about it really, one of the best handling road bikes i have ridden as well as being comfortable to ride even when doing 600+km in a day.
They are very stable even without a steering damper (i have ridden bikes that are less stable with one)
They have great brakes and decent power up until around 160km/h which is all you really need but they will do a bit over 200km/h if you really want to.
Also great on fuel, especially if you change the rear sprocket to a 39 from the 42 so it sits outside the vtec at 100km/h in 6th gear.

if i were to give it some minus points it would be these.
to even check the coolant level you need to remove the fuel tank.
to change the oil and oil filter you need to remove the header pipes.
Also fairly reliable bikes, if you do regular maintenance on the engine and run good oil (i recommend Motul 7100 10w30) they will last until 80,000km without opening the engine.
but abusing them can result in needing valve adjustment at 25,000km and timing chain by 40,000km and the latter is a very big job.
think thousands of $$$ if you don't do it yourself and to do it yourself you need to split the cases which requires tools you probably do not have.
>>
>>17851837
oh and sorry about it resisting your counter steer the rear tyre is probably squared off is the problem with that particular bike, fresh rubber will fix that.

yep. it is a pain, a few of the bolts are awkard as fuck to get out with a ratchet because the radiator hoses are in the way and one you have to do with a spanner because a no length/size of ratchet even with an extention bar will fit and then doing them back up to the right torque is even more of a pain because each bolt on each pipe so 8 bolts need to be equally tight before you start to tighten the rest and then you have to tighten them in a diagonal order and even then it is very easy to over torque a bolt and bend one of the plates that hold the headers on which im pretty sure are impossible to replace.
Thanks Honda.

that one is a 2011 special edition, was a grey import from japan.
sometimes see them up but they only made 500 of them in that colour and they were only sold in japan apart from those that were on pre order and delivered to australia (thats what the little black plate on the frame of mine is all about) so they are fairly rare to find.
if you do find one though 95% of the owners do not even know they are a rare bike so they normally sell for the same price as any other cb400.
some of the other tri colours still look fairly nice though like the blue/white/red with black frame.

Squid gangs and motards. You don't even have to give motards an insulting nickname because it's already a portmanteau of moto and retard.

If I were chief of police I'd give my forces full permission to ram any vehicle posing a hazard to public traffic off the road, including motorcycles. Otherwise you simply can't catch these fuckwits, they don't have plates anyway and they'll just evade you if you can't make contact.

Sup /dbt/, I'm playing Ride 2 right now and I can't wrap my head around bike setups.
Let's say I wanna get rid of unwanted wheelies during launch or out of slow corners, should I decrease rear damping stiffnes?
If that is the case, why does a softer front end make the rear end lift during hard braking?
I haven't found anything on google
>>
>>17853981
Softer rear will absorb some energy that would otherwise be used to lift the front wheel.

When breaking hard you're diving, with a softer front you dive deeper, making the rear come off the road easier

I've had a GS500 for a year.
I have the change to get the SV1000S in pic. It has 3x the mileage and is more expensive than what I paid for my current motorcycle, so the upgrade would cost some money, probably around ~€500.

Is it worth it?

I'm a bit conflicted because although the SV1000S seems to be better than the GS500 in almost every aspect, I keep reading comparisons on forums and how they all conclude pretty much every other bike is better than the SV1000S, so that makes me wonder if I should save more money, as they are also more expensive...

As a 25 year old UK pleb who is looking to do his CBT / Theory soonish. What would a decent 125 be for commuting purposes ?

I've been looking at the YS125 and the CB125F. Was considering the GSX-S125 but it looks pretty meh.

The plan is to learn and get used to riding on a 125 with L plates for about a year and then eventually take a practical / theory to get an A2 license so I have more variety in bike options. Then, if I ever feel ballsy enough years down the line I can apply for an unrestricted license for a big boy bike. Is this generally a good idea?

i failed by that many points. Here's all it took
stopped with the tire on the box instead of inside, 5pts

I want lower-end torque, better brakes and suspensions than I have now, hopefully better aero all while keeping it reliable.
