Has anyone gotten their oil analyzed by Blackstone Labs? It costs $28 which isn't that expensive but is it worth it if you don't have an older car? It includes:
Spectral Exam: Establishes the levels of wear metals, silicon, and additives present in the oil. Also checks for coolant.
Viscosity: Determines the grade of oil.
Insolubles: Quantifies the percentage of solids present in the oil.
Flashpoint: The flashpoint is the temperature at which the vapors from the oil ignite. When the flash is lower than it should be, it shows a contaminant (usually fuel) is present.

I'm not getting paid shit by BL. Here's some competing services that all cost about the same as Blackstone. The question still stands.

I used an oil lab for my E60 M5 to keep an eye on my rod end bearings. Everything was good until 87,XXX. I traded that bitch in the next week. If you have a car that has a known fault like an E60 M5 then yes you should use an oil lab. If you have a BRZ you probably don't need to use one.
