You've got a solid car that is going to last basically forever. It might eventually turn into a shambling rotted hulk, but it will never stop.
However, you're paying way over the odds for having that chunky V6. Sure it can go like a stabbed rat, but the 1.8 is only slightly slower and is way cheaper to run.
If it's done 180k+ watch the clutch like a fucking hawk. This is it's only real weak point.

This is correct. The series I A4 is basically a Passat with a body kit and stiffer shocks.
But this does not stop it from being a pleasant car to drive.
Also makes it v. easy and fairly cheap to find parts for, literally everywhere carries standard VW stock.

I am angry about this V6 in this particular A4 because they kept this slow piece of shit while ditching the 5pot.

It is a fucking LAZY engine but sips gas like a fucking cunt.

Don't forget inferior rear suspension, the Passat borrows that from the A6. It's also got a longer wheelbase which means more rear legroom, and a bigger trunk.
