So I'm planning on hitting 200,000mi in the next year in my 323i. This car's been through a lot of shit and I love it to death so i was thinking of doing something out of the ballpark from actual maintenance when it hits the mark along with getting it detailed.
The front bumper had a split in it since i got the car 11 years ago so i was thinking of replacing it with a OEM style one. How well can people match 17yo OEM paint? I've never had anything painted before and any time i touched a paint can it's always ended in disaster.
Don't waste money on it, although it has sentimental value just save for something else.
Any pics of your car?

He's right. Its only a matter of tIme before something too big to fix happens and you're looking at a $5k-10k repair bill.
Abort when that time comes

This right here.
Fixing cosmetic issues on a 15 year old car? Why? Aside from rust protection, don't bother.

Have you guys ever enjoyed driving a certain car before? Sure e60's are faster and newer cars are safer, but cars like this one are the kinds that just feel good to drive. You feel connected to the road and if something goes wrong theres good accessibility to any component under the hood. Ive driven this thing through 3ft of water and it still holds fine meanwhile my mom's Eclipse started blowing smoke through the AC because it started raining. If I have to spend $5k on a new shitbox or on a transmission or something (which i found would actually cost me $3k b/c I like being prepared), why on Earth would I spend it on some massed produced, iphone charger bullshit made to take up space and clunk out as soon as the warranty expires?
