Hey /o/ i need some help here
I bought my very own 2016 Focus ST a few months ago, changed the oil about two weeks ago used about 5.7 quarts of 5w-30 (what i believe is ford's specs)
and that damn oil pressure guage just loves to sit so low it scares me. I added a bit more, hit just below 70psi when high rpms and cold oil, once it warms up it would stay 35psi while accelerating and then get to maybe 7psi or so while sitting still at 700rpm idle. I've heard this guage is not even very accurate and i just don't want to ruin my brand new car.
I cant remember what the guage typically did when i first got it because i was not so paranoid, this was my first time changing my oil on my own.
Maybe the guage was all the way over in the 70 range. I don't ever remember it being this low. I added an additional .3 quarts initially and just removed the extra wondering if i had magnified my problem. I don't believe it did. Should I add some more back?
tldr: noobie questions :2016 Focus st oil gauge reads very low at idle, I'm certain the vehicle possesses the manufacturers reccomended 5.7quarts. Is it advisable to add additional oil (i'm hoping .3-.7qts whould do it) until the gauge reads at least 10psi at hot idle?
Pic related mine kind of looks like that, perhaps a bit lower.
