I mean we could've taken it off but then we would have to work next Saturday and it fucks up the routing for the whole week. Like we have two types of accounts- Pepsi Direct which is restaurants and stuff that place the order over the phone, and pre-sell accounts where a sales rep goes there the day before. So when we take the Monday off, all of the Direct stops from Mon will be pushed to Tues, but the rest of the week is on time and then the pre-sell accounts will all be delayed a day so it messes up the flow of the route. So you will have a direct account and a pre-sell stop right next to eachother that you normally do on Thursday, but with the holiday you will be at the Direct acct on Thurs and then the other one Friday even tho they are right next to eachother.

Little BS holidays like that, we just tell them to let us work so we get paid for an extra day, don't have to deal with a short weekend, and the routes are normal.

This week is fucked any way you look at it. Between Labor Day weekend, the news coverage of Harvey, and the whole Category 5 thing, this is fucked.

We had pretty much 1/3 of our warehouse stocked up with water for hurricane season and by Monday afternoon, shit was wiped out. Some of these stores I can't even make it to the shelf with the water because people take it off my cart as soon as it comes in the door. This slow CVS, they got a 20 case order. The manager was like "Oh, we have 2 pallets of water coming on our truck Thursday" and only ordered 15cs from us. People were about to start fighting for the shit and they were crowding around as we were scanning it in. And those two pallets, that's like an hour worth of water. 3 pallets at a slower Walgreens were almost gone within 45min, and that was like 7:30am.

I wanna get into trucking but am confused about some things... I'm still living at home so I can afford to be away from home for weeks at a time and shit like that. I'm confused about things like:
Company Paid CDL Training like Roehl... Is it actually a good thing to get into?
Terminals... I live in Northern Ohio, and it seems like every single terminal is in another state. Would I have to drive to those terminals every time I start a new route/go home?
Job Titles... Should I do like solo shit like flatbed/reefers/heavy hauling?

I've been interested in trucking for a while but I don't want to trust these companies that are like "Oh sure buddy, we'll train you for like 6 weeks and pay for everything AND give you a paycheck and you'll be good2go!!!"

I understand that I have to work for them for like 9-12 months or some shit for them paying for my school, but everything seems too good to be legitimate. Am I missing something? Lemme know please so I can decide whether or not to apply right away. I just turned 23 by the way so I figure if I get this training out of the way, opportunities will be better down the line. I mainly just want to know if I have to drive 1k miles to the nearest terminal in order to work, and do that every 2 weeks or whatever lol.

There are also companies that will train you in exchange for you signing a (typically) 2-year contract, and while these are generally regarded as a total shitfest, it's not the worst thing in the world if that is your only option.
