So I'm looking for a 4x4 vehicle that won't get used too often or too heavy but I want it to be more than equipt for what I need it for, I'm basically going to be using it for camping off rough roads and bringing equipment for renegades(basically a rave, but in the woods and an older crowd), I also have a large property down south I'll need to get around on and there's not many trails or roads on it, I was thinking of getting an hmmwv from a military surplus considering I also wanted something diesel and it doesn't have to look pretty or be comfortable, is there any reason not to do this?
Parts are basically nonexistent and you'll have to do 95% of the work the vehicle ever needs yourself unless if you know a really specialized mechanic. Also have fun spending $75 just to fill the gas tank every week and I guarantee they've been thoroughly thrashed and good god are they slow, they barely hit highway speed because they weigh three tons.
At least buy an H1 Hummer if you want that old school military feel without driving a complete shithouse on wheels.
Also they're kind of expensive just to purchase outright compared to a regular offroad vehicle that will be infinitely less shit.
Just get a fullsize pickup dumbshit

I spend $150 filling a WRX. $75 would be nice.

Filling it every week to drive it once, I should have specified.
You literally can not daily a vehicle like this.

I wouldn't need it for a daily driver though, it'd just sit around most of the year most likely and go on like 3 or 4 camping trips and basically be a thing to get around my property with other than that, I figure any normal vehicle I get will cost more and just get ruined anyway

>camping trips
have you considered that you usually can not register decommissioned humvees to be street legal

well no, I guess I haven't, I didn't realize that was the case, but I suppose smog and safety regulations would probably be an issue now that you mention it.

>3 or 4 camping trips
Why do you need a HMMVW to go glamping?

The ones you could buy get like 15mpg, but they barely hit 65mph. Its true that theyll be trashed though. If youre dead set on a military diesel, id look into the k5
