I get really depressed about this sometimes. I feel like there are almost no new cars that aren't overly designed tech pieces. The challenger is my favorite right now and I'm not even a muscle car guy. I miss the days when every car on the road was a simple car and nothing more. Nowadays new cars are complicated as fuck. I'll admit they are the most efficient cars we have ever had, but I don't like them or enjoy them. I never appreciated the shit boxes of the old days and now I feel sorry for it. I find myself checking out S10 Blazers from pre 1994 and ford aerostars. As well as shit like Mercury Villagers ffs. Everything nowadays seems like it's made for preppy city dwellers who don't care about driving experience.
Please someone tell me I'm wrong. Tell me I'm overthinking new cars. Please, I don't want to be right. Even the modern wranglers look like toy cars.

Not to mention the lack of basic small pickups being made. How do we fight back against car regulations? Is there any way?

No. The majority want a safe A-to-B vehicle with wifi. Our future is in classic cars. It's over.
Regulations are forcing new cars to be overdesigned shitpiles. Your only hope is buying an old one that's in exceptional condition, and keeping it that way.

Try to focus on that point. It's the only redeeming feature.
