Did 4chan change the max image size for this board? I tried creating this thread since there wasn't one for basically a day, but 4chan would let me because the last OP image was too large (4.65mb, max is 4mb?).

No it's been 4MB for a while and shit is weird. You can see the current op image size is 3.67MB but when you save it to your phone it balloons to +4MB. I don't know if it becomes a bigger size if you save it on your computer though

What's interesting about it though is that it was in Japan and someone Slammed 1 of only 100 NSXs that were being exported there for the 2017 production year.

So far, the insurance decided they're going to inspect the car next week rather than just pick it up.

I wonder if I can use the 25% pay-off check they'll give me to use to get a car, if they total it. It'll only be $1,200.

its driving me up the fucking wall nihgas
the squeal is loud as fuck and is only silenced by finding that sweet spot with harder braking, any other pressure at any speed and you get tinnitus simulator

when i got the pad there was a little nick on the drivers side but it seems all the noise comes from the passengers side again
i fully cleaned the right side caliper and hardware to the point where contact is as good as new, ive lubricated the pins, lubricated all metal contact points with copper antiseize. Rotor was sanded to remove old dust on the surface and i made sure there was no crust of rust at the edges. Everything should be as good as a textbook brake pads + service so this is troubling.

I notice when the brakes are cold from not running everything is quiet but after a few stops it disappears. The only way to make it shut up is harder stops, even then thats temporary. I've also noticed a faint squeak in general pressing the brake pedal with the key in on position.

At this point im looking at drowning everything in copper lube and saying fuck it
>>
>>17806916
Try sanding the pads, might be something caught on them.

Finally another Honda General!!

So /hg/ here's one of the main characters im drawing for a short manga series I'm making based off a "Murican" Version or Initial-D, he's either gonna drive a Foxbody GT or a Fiero with bodykit, or an old 5th gen celica or Prelude, haven't decided, everyone keeps telling me to make him drive the fox
>>

I was thinking the MC would find an old Foxbody GT at the scrapyard and buys it for $500 and is in decent enough condition, it just needed a couple things to make it road ready and the old owner figured he'd just give it to the scrap yard, and thus the MC finds this gem of a car with very little he needs to do to make it a new DD.
And thus starts his life of a pizza DDer saving money and working on his car and racing in his small town in Colorado, doing highway races/ small town sponsored drags/ (since its Colorado) national forest park touge's, and maybe some sort of town sponsored local rally event held once a yr, similar to something like the steam game "My Summer Car"

Idk these are just my ideas for this short series

im planning to do the fluid chages on my "new" '98 d16y8. the manual say use OEM Honda transmission fluid, coolant yadayada... The car currently has the green coolant (the oem should be blue i believe), no idea about the transmission. Any decent alterntives in eurolands for these or i should just stick with the recommendation and order them online?

coolant can work with whatever, mexicans run water all the time. Just make sure its properly mixed. If it really looks rusty get inexpensive stuff, run that for a bit, then drain and fill, run a while, drain and fill to oem.

Transmission i recommend running oem stuff, i dont trust the aftermarket to cater to exactly what your car was meant to run with. AT or MT?

power steering i can say whatever since i run half oem half lucasoil stuff, try to do fluids when cold,

brake fluid i'd go oem especially considering you may or may not know when it was last replaced and chances are it could be black now
>>
>>17809686
honestly most of the fluids look alright to me, i inspected them when buying the car. pulled some out with a syringe, checked for color/contamination. Im doing this mainly to get to know my car.

its manual trans. so honda mtf then.

any way to check if the brake fluids are dot3 or dot4? can i mix them in case i need to top it off? i probably wont change them, im afraid of fucking up brakes big time...
>>
>>17809522
I don't know about coolant, you should be able to run anything, but always use oem oil made specifically for Honda.

Back when my transmission started fucking up last year I had to have it rebuilt. After fixing it, I gave the mechanic enough money to buy Honda specific oil (a bit more expensive) and he cheaped out and bout some other cheap shit and the transmission didn't work properly until we bought the oem one.

I'd prefer a hatch for [C O O L V I B R A T I O N S] but up here there are pretty much none in running shape in the price range.

>don't even look at the mileage
Surely there is some cut off point for top end mileage or is the honda durablity meme not a meme? What transmission wise If I can't find a decent manual, how do the autotragics hold up in comparison durablity wise?

How does a corolla vs civic or accord vs camry hold up long term?

https://nh.craigslist.org/search/cto?query=civic&max_price=1800
craigslist for reference, I'll look for something that looks decent and ask here. Most everything up here is either rusty, needs parts or like 250k+ miles.

2000 EK, 204k miles automatic. I've had minor issues like the transmission needing to be pulled and rebuilt (didn't cost much since no parts were needed), radiator hose broke, radiator cracked, blown head gasket, brake calipers seized once, and my AC lags the engine hard (still haven't fixed this yet).

That's over the course of ~5 years of ownership. Shit breaks from time to time but that's expected from a 17 year old car. Luckily nothing too expensive has given way yet.

What company do you deliver for?

I used to work for Skip The Dishes here in in the prairies of Canada, and holy shit it fucking sucked, the delivary charge you get is very low, plus it seemed like most ppl around here don't fuckin tip and if they do it's literally like $1-3

On VERY RARE occasions and if I happened to be lucky sometimes someone would tip me like a $5 or $10, and if I was really really lucky I'd get like a $20 but that's only happened a couple times

Most of the time the pickup for the order was like 20- sometimes 40mins, and then the delivery to the customer was usually about the same amount of time, and for all the time and effort driving that long my delivery charge I'd get to keep for the delivery before tips was usually around anywhere between $3-$5 and more often than not I either got no tip, or a tip that was a slap on the face like a $1 or 50 fuckin cents or some stupid shit, or if I was lucky maybe $2/3, so all that time and effort driving around and waiting for restaurants to finish making the food then driving halfway across the city on average each delivery would make me like $5-8 an HOUR

I remember praying and hoping I'd get someone that was nice and tipped decently just so it would help counterbalance the shitty ppl that wouldn't tip or give good ones just so i could break even with a min hourly wage for that night
It was fucking godawful Shingu
That's why I'm always amazed how well you usually do delivering

>pic related my old car I delivered in, thank God it was great on gas and sounded like a rice mobile
>>
>>17816050
I deliver for Pizza Hut. Usually making around $15 an hour estimated. More than enough to cover gas, maintenance (not much), and extra shit I want. Location plays a big part in it all. Some other pizza places make terrible money in tips. August was far below average though so it's not always good. September is off to an excellent start.

>>17818380
Haha yea shits fucked. I'm abusing the fuck out of my alternator this whole week. Long story short, my brake lights have been draining my battery every day since Thursday because they don't turn off. The brake light switch pedal pad finally broke off so i Jerry rigged it with electrical tape. It worked but over night since Thursday, the tape would settle and the brake lights turned on again so i had to add layers.

If i roll down my rear windows, it fucks up my aluminum foil.

Do you have a fancy soldering iron? Mine stays on one temperature and my bro already melted his cluster circuit with it lol

Gonna vent my frustration here, sorry for my stupidity and blogfagging but here it goes
>Wednesday night: brake light switch rubber spacer breaks from old age, thus keeping my brake lights on (I didn't know until the following night)
>Thursday morning: turn key on civic, nothing, thought it was a dead battery, no time to diagnose, had to go to my clinical rotation, jump in my supra
>Thursday night: diagnose problem, look through forums and found the answer. Bro arrives, told me to just use electrical tape and keep adding layers until the brake lights turn off. Add over 10 layers, lost count, brake lights turn off, charged battery, pressed the brakes over 200 times to test it & called it a night
>Friday morning: take my mom to hair salon, drop her off and wait at home. Over an our passes, she called me to pick her up. Turn key on civic, nothing. Fuck. Hop in my supra. Got home, disconnected the battery to prevent it draining what little charge it had left, if any.
>Saturday night: finally have free time to work on civic. Ask bro how many layers I should add (this is important as to why I'm frustrated rn). "Until the brake lights turn off." I added one layer and brake lights turned off. Test drove it by driving the same route to and from the hair salon. Brake lights stayed off and no bad alternator symptoms. Called it a night
>Sunday night: About to leave to go somewhere with bro, before I get in his civic, I test my civic to see if it would start. Turn key on, nothing again. FUCK. Brake lights turned on in the middle of the night without me knowing again draining the battery for the third time. Come back from wherever we went, add one layer and brake lights turned off. Ok time to test drive. Drive to and from the parlor, went to vatozone to buy air fresheners and bulbs for my cluster since LEDs shit the fan. Took apart the cluster 3x because I fucked it up from another incident so I got more pissed off that a 30minute lasted an hour longer.

>cluster backlight went out while driving and car wants to stall with all lights turning off if I try to use my high beams
>get back home and tell my bro what happened (he's a ford tech for 6 years, UTI graduate, that's why I ask him for this stuff)
>>you're alternator is probably going bad becuase of your battery being drained a few nights in a row
>agree
>>how many layers of tape did you add?
>one
>>wtf why only one?
>you told me to stop adding when the lights turned off, it turned off after one so i stopped adding anymore
>>don't you know how switches work? It's common sense! I would've added like 5-8 layers! How many layers did you add today?
>one. I didn't say anything else after that since I didn't wanna escalate it. He's very stubborn and sensitive when it comes to conflcts like this so I keep my mouth shut.
I don't get why he's mad since I followed his instructions. If it was common sense I wouldn't have asked him how many layers to add if it came back on. I don't really see how switch mechanisms play into this either. I'd think the electrical tape shrank over night from the cool temperature. Common sense to him is different for me since I'm in the fucking medical field and not in the automotive field. I only do this for a hobby. It's not like I get pissy when he does shit wrong that relates to my field that can be considered "common sense" to me.

Sorry not sorry for the grammar I don't give a shit I didn't put any effort into grammar.
/fucking blog
>>
>>17818944

The way my bro told me to do it works too but I didn't know you had to add an extra 5-8 layers after the brake lights turned off. Instructioimage gave me weren't clear enough imo

>>17818966
I think I understand it. It sitting overnight, the pressure from the switch pushing on the layer of tape eventually made it slide into the hole.

Makes me wonder how mine looks. I noticed there's a switch for my clutch pedal too and nothing is there to push it. Wonder what that is?
