30 years old and still comfier than a brand new Toyota.

Don't get diesel unless 5cyl.
>>
They are awesome but honestly getting a little old. The plastic parts under the hood and everywhere else is getting brittle. They can be a headache to work on in 2017. Lots of little things that will ad up. Things like cabin blower goes, the antenna module craps out, the window regulators break, the doors don't lock, the plastic fluid reservoirs crack and etc. Great solid cars that are just old now. And not charming old like an 80s 5 spd F150 or something simple like that.
>>
PS. Owned a 91 E300. A 90 E300. An 89 E300 wagon.

Complete trash compared to the godly being of the W124. Only good for cut springs and for some teenagers to but a big turbo on the OM602. Otherwise useless and ugly and shit.

It's pretty much the same thing. One is just slightly bigger.

Disagree.

I drive a W124 daily.
30 years old
1,290,000 km

Nothing plastic has ever broken. (Except undertray)
Every plastic part feels solid.
No problems with electronics.

MBTex nterior lasts forever.

The blower is fine and it runs all day everyday during the warm season.

Maintenance is easy to do yourself.
Spares are cheap.

>be me
>living in a merc family
>father drives only W124
>has 3 W124
>things break
>is lazy on fixing them
>rear axle of one pretty much done
>cars just keep and keep going

He could not do this with any other car

I have two. A 250D and a 200E

>friend buys 1995 E250D w/ 40,000 km
>been garaged for 15 years because owner btfo himself in the head
>puts in fresh gas, push starts and drives it home
>overheats on highway because thermostat corroded shut
>idiot doesn't notice and drives like that the whole way
>aux fan spinning like a nigga possessed
>car starts blowing white smoke and he still doesn't stop (except for food)
>somehow makes it home without blowing head gasket
>brings it to his dad who is one of the best/worst amateur mechanics I've ever seen
>smoke is because piston rings shrunk from hot/cold cycle.
>dad brazes thermostat so it stays "open"
>changes oil for much heavier viscosity
>doesn't do anything else
>4 years later and still working
>despite thicc oil and temp never going above 40C
>friend somehow overheats engine again
>this time he calls me and tells me to pick his dad up from work
>and bring a fresh battery because his car stopped suddenly and wont turn over anymore.
>we try cranking and battery is fine
>notice temp is way past 120C
>radiator is 100% dry
>engine wouldn't turn over because pistons literally expanded
>wait for it to cool down
>try starting but no good
>push start and it fires up
>put water in and drive it home
>have to feed it water every couple of km
>his dad puts radiator sealer into the cooling system
>exxxtra t h i c c oil again
>installs ether flame start from old forklift
>low compression on cyl 3 but still starts up and doesn't smoke

How long do you think it will last this time?
