What is your dad's dream car?
>>17796044
He doesn't have one because he's not alive anymore.
>>17796055
Oh...
i think E31 8 series
Literally just a reasonably comfy, cheap, spacious and reliable wagon that'll get him from A to B with minimum effort and cost involved.
Definitely Miura
Doesn't have a specific, not much of a car guy. I asked him to describe what he would like in a car
>SUV
>automatic
>not slow
He drives a grocerygetter-econobox-Nissan-now
no he's not a boomer, he was born in '56
>>17796101
>There are no precise dates for when this cohort starts or ends. Demographers and researchers typically use birth dates ranging from the early-to-mid 1940s and ending from 1960 to 1964. Increased birth rates were observed during the post–World War II baby boom, making the baby boomers a relatively large demographic cohort. Strauss and Howe define boomers as those born from 1943-1960.
holy shit literally the definition of a baby boomer
>>17796044
A '69 Mustang. Not American so an old Mustang like this is pretty exotic here.
>>17796098
A ford raptor would be cool for him but its not an SUV.
A fox body mustang, 5.0
A car he always wanted since he was younger, I'll buy him one some day.
>>17796156
Eurofag so the only truck on Ford's website is the fucking Ranger even though there's a page for a GT. And trucks aren't really a thing here anyways as all of the working class just drive vans instead.
A high performance sports car, RWD, decked out to be comfy as fuck with a nice and luxurious interior, classy and luxurious looking exterior.
>>17796116
oh shit I thought it was just 40s kids
no wonder he acts like one
So my dad was born in 62, his dream car is a 1974 oldsmobile cutlass supreme with the opera windows.
59 camino
I don't know why I think they're ugly as shit.
i'd be down with any other camino, but those fins are just too much
>>17796156
A V6 EcoBoost Escape maybe.
black r129 5/600 i think
idk why he didn't buy one yet, they're cheap as fuck, reliable, not bad on upkeep and look amazing
64 1/2 mustang
66-71 Mopar classics
60-64 Pontiacs
Basically any of those. He's too much of a pussy to pull the trigger every time he gets close to buying one
>>17796044
He is a very complicated man.
Pretty much he is either all for the 911 turbo or a 1990s Thunderbird.
A brand new, manual Porsche 911
>>17796252
They aren't reliable. The wiring harnesses get chewed up very easily and the electronics are very finicky. Pretty sure suspension components are very expensive too.
An A8 estate. But he doesn't have the money for an A8, let alone transforming it into an estate.
>>17796282
So just get an A6???
1965 Cadillac Coupe
Pardon the shitty watermarks, couldn't find a good picture
60's orange westfalia
>>17796279
are you sure?
i know about the biodegradable bs but as far as i know that's it
also the airmatic isn't really a problem,he's got a good bit of experience with them
my whole life he talked about wanting a 7 series but we were always poor
he finally got financially secure enough for a bmw but had to settle for a 3 series
he still loves it
talked about wanting a tesla for a while but i think hes given up on that
he just wants a better bmw now
He grew up watching the original win le mans and when the retro revival came out he loved it. If I ever have enough money while he's alive I'm buying him one
>>17796309
Lel
4x4 golf wagon with the diesel off the touran
Because he's a badgewhore who "prefers diesels"
>>17796044
If I ever get some decent money, the first thing I'm gonna do is get him the car he really deserved
>>17796044
Merc SUV
Be brought one at one point but returned it once he realised it was overpriced and underpowered
1970 chevelle ls6, which he will never be able to have because by the time he will buy one the boomers will have pushed musclecar prices to fucking stratospheric levels. also he was born in 1971 so not a boomer
>>17796077
This
He has it, I think
>>17796252
my dad has one, it's pretty nice
69 Camaro SS Convertible
Him and my mother actually had 4 68-69 Camaros at one time when they were dating. It's a shame they got rid of/totaled them all. I probably would've ended up with one.
>>17796044
My BMW E38 750. He loves the simple yet luxurious interior, offers everything without being overloaded with touchscreens and shit. Alwso loves the handling of that thing.
Frankly, I love it all too.
mom, when she was weight
but with the weight she gained after having us
A tiger tank to clean the streets.
A Toyota pickup truck.
I was gonna buy him a new Tacoma TRD and he went out and bought a used 98 Tacoma for $3k instead.
>>17796496
E38 is objectively the best 7-Series.
>>17796044
he's a farmers so probably a jeep or a tractor
>>17796055
This... but this.
Would buy it for him right now if it'd bring him back
Oddly, this one is located in a town that has his name
Today I showed him the new Bentley Conti GT and he loved it so much that he called up his old friend who's right now a Bentley Dealership manager to know more on it. Before this, for him it was a Porsche 911 Turbo.
>>17796872
Ha maybe he would want you to have it?
Seems a little uncanny. Maybe you should at least go take a look at it, for your dad?
>>17796834
*E32
'55 Chevy Bel-Air, tubbed out, chopped, flames down the side, pretty much a Boomer's wet dream. He loves the kind of shit they do on Counts Kustoms.
he wanted an elan to restore, but i think he'd also wanted to own another TR7 at some point. shame i never knew anything about cars while he was still alive.
>>17796951
On closer examination it looks like it's just the ghost of an ad that was on craigslist eight months ago. It was a thousand miles away from me anyway. Plus he ultimately said that he preferred his Buick Electra Park Avenue to the Thunderbird in the end. It was a pretty quick, comfy car with a 3800 in it but FWD so I don't usually bother posting it in these kind of threads.
cts-v wagon
Plymouth duster
He doesn't have a dream car, he likes trucks and the high driving position so basically he's gay
>>17796044
Pic very much related
A shame he doesn't like the flush-headlight model one more, tsk
>>17797289
Not gay, just insecure so he needs to sit higher than others
Also might be because it's hard to climb in/out of cars. If he has to climb in/out of trucks, then first answer applies
>>17796044
>Dogde Demon 1971
>RWD

My fathers dream car.
>>17797468
And my Mothers, just for fun
I don't blame him.
>>17796872
It's a sign from God, you're a good son for wanting to buy him his favorite car. Pretty sure my dad would've wanted a new 7 series to replace his old one that was totaled by some idiot in the 90's.
he's not alive anymore but I know he always wanted a yamaha vmax
>>17797562
He has it, it's pretty comfy actually.

>inb4 family car
>>17797570
Is your dad's name Cletus or Tyrone by any chance?
>>17796044
Already has it and gave it to me to use for drag racing
He has two:
A 428 CJ Mach I
An Austin Healey 3000
I think he's got some fine taste.
>>17796044
Don't ask why, I still have no idea.
The best part is that he's a boomer.

My dad was born in Russia and grew up there. When we moved here we grew a business and we kept growing it until he had the money to buy a G class. He always wanted one because it was like the ultimate car in Russia. He got into it on the test drive and literally said: "this is shit, why did I ever want this". He wants a restored Lada now. (He ended up buying an s class though)
70 hemi cuda
Ferrari F355 Spider was (and still is) my dad's dream car with the Testarossa being a close second.
He was actually seriously considering purchasing one used around the time my brother was born but decided against it having 2 young kids and what not. While it would of been more of a mechanical nightmare than the 97 Jag he bought my mom for their anniversary a few years back, it would of been seriously cool to have a car like that around.
Same as mine
I really don't know, don't know if he is into cars either, I think he isn't. But with I guess he's okay with his new 530i and all the assistant systems he ordered
My dad doesn't give a fuck about cars, he just sees them as appliances. He's been driving Nissan Frontiers since I was like 7.
A Volvo XC90, he always drove Volvos as a young man and when he had a family but left the brand when Ford ruined them.
Now that he's near retirement age he wants a Volvo again since they're back to being luxurious as powerful.
>>17796044
850CSi Im pretty sure
only other cars he's mentioned in that way would be '56 Thunderbirds, and old 60s Land Rovers
He wants a restored 62 Thunderbird because his dad drove when he was a kid.
>>17798184
My old man also yearns for an old shitbox Moskvitch with the anemic piece of shit 1.3 litre Opel clone engine, not the glorious 1.5 litre BMW M10 clone.
From what I've gathered, the 1.3 litre was a truly horrible engine, full of fucked up design that just got worse with sub-par slav engineering.
>>17796044
Porsche 911 GT3
my old man loves hilux for whatever reason
merc s-class wagon
>>17802769
e-class* sorry
He loves mid 70s Lincolns and Caddies
Either a Callenger Hellcat, Model X P100D, or a Focus RS. He doesn't care a lot about old stuff.
Kinda wide range, but not bad taste imo.
My old man is mostly about supreme comfort and off-road capbility: Range Rovers, Rolls-Royce's, aston Martin, Lincoln Continental, Mercedes G-class, Lexus LS, Bentley Brooklands, Toyota Land Cruiser, Cadillac Escalade EXT, Ford Thunderbird.
>>17796044
my boomer dad loves this car, he saw one at a car show once and had a aneurysm
Also realistically he would also want a 2000s Pontiac GTO, i think he likes the modern car reliability and availability of parts, with the old school concept

My dad loves vintage dictator spec yachts
He hasn't specifically called it a dream car, but he has told me he's always wanted an EG civic hatch. No black wheels and no black interior. Either that or an bmw 3 series for the i6 and rwd.
Would be cool to get him one later in life when I'm in a better place financially.
2nd gen chevelle ss
and the bmw 850 e31
One of these. He's close to retirement and wants to travel through Europe with his 16 year younger wife
>>17796320
could he have not bought a used one? they are really cheap and plentiful second hand from all the rich people replacing them.
>>17796165
My dad had two of these, which means that my dad is cooler than your dad
>>17796044
One of these that's just a little ratty
>>17796044
He's owned three, same year (98), same color (beige/gold). He refuses to drive anything else. He's 56
>>17796044
probably a Camry that never needs gas or maintenance and that will never break down
that's about all he cares about in a car
Countach or an Aston Martin DB4
He does love his Land Cruiser though. As much as he may not admit it I think that really is his favorite car.
>>17796252
There is one near the place I live and it really does look amazing. Might actually buy one for myself one day.
Anyway if this thread is anything to go by at least you guys have "normal" dads that appreciate looks, performance or comfiness of cars. The car history of my dad includes Lada 1200s, two Fiat Unos and a Lada Samara and his dreamcars are within that spectrum as well.
T3 Syncro
Already owns an 83 westfalia though.
My dad just wishes that I'll find a job and got a family of myself
>>17803794
Fuck that thing is cool
>>17796044
idgaf wat his favorite car is. I told him that as soon as I can make big money i'm buying him an old porsche 911 just so he can ride it around town when he has to drive somewhere.
we've always been poor and still are pretty much, but I plan on changing that... hopefully before i'm 80

>>17796044
I'm not sure what his dream car is. Something tells me it's a BMW, when I bought mine he couldn't stop talking about it. I'm going to pay it off give it to him and pick up another for myself.
I plan on buying him one when I finish school.
Toyota Highlander Hybrid
>tfw he currently drives a 2009 prius
At least he knows how to drive stick.
>>17796044
Something someone who is paralyzed in half their body can drive, I imagine.
Which would probably be the Mazda Tribute, considering that's what he drove when he got his stroke and despite having no real control over the right side of his body, he still drives. I'll have to ask him some time, though.
he always tells me how he always wanted one of these in the 80s but could never justify pulling the trigger.
he has an IS 350 now.
E type Jag or Lotus Europa
He had a Valiant VF Regal Coupe and a Mercedes 220SB
He sold both
Also a XB Falcon Coupe
Peterbilt 281

A 911 993 afaik, yellow to be precise but he seems quite happy with his BMW 328i
>>17797562

I'm not sure anymore. He bought a Chevy Lumina with low miles (85k) and he's been freaking out about it. I don't get it, its not very fast, its not reliable at all, and its ugly as sin. He wants my help upgrading the struts this weekend. Pic related, we spent hours stripping the clearcoat off of those wheels to make them look perfect. I'm down with helping my dad with his car projects, but why did It have to be a Lumina?
Cummins swapped FFPW
>>17805699

>>17796044
Mid 60's 911, he's never specified what year.
He's gen x, IDK if boomers like 911's.
I'd like to buy him one someday, but they're becoming less and less common.
Off topic, mine's a early Audi Quattro S1 or 2CV. Guess we both appreciate euros
>>17796044
May not be his dream car but right now he really wants to buy a beater Miata to turn into an LS swapped Exocet, to accompany his autocross NA
>>17807489
Apart from that I think it's a really nice 1962 Nova/Chevy II. Seems it always changes whenever he sees a car he forgot he really likes until he sees one
Sorry for double post
>>17796044
I believe it would be a 73 or thereabouts Malibu.
He used to own one when I was very young and has pics in his FB.
Once I start making a decent living I'll have one restored for him.
just asked him a week ago
>>17805557
well i didnt mean to imply hes well off or anything
the one he bought was used but he has a bias against private party sellers and also didn't want a car more than a few years old.
i personally dont like driving it and prefer my own car which my family think im crazy for
its an auto which is probably the main reason
hes not really a car guy so i think its more of a possession to him and it got stuck in his head as something a successful person would own
the next car he buys might be new however as his new wife is quite well off on her own so their combined income is substantial
>>17796044
he wants his 69 boss back. he had one about 35 years ago.
he's down to earth so he wouldn't care much if it was a shelby or anything, just a 69 fastback with a 302 and he'd be fine.
though he did talk about his friend who put a 351 cleveland into a maverick. think that car scared him too much though.
>>17796055
Sorry about that bro, but at least you got dubs for him.
>>17796044
My dad has always wanted an FJ40.
And I think if he ever had enough money, he'd get a 1970's 911, he's German and has a soft spot for anything that reminds him of home.
Or what home used to be, before it turned into Eurabia.
>>17807262
Dude, I have seen an unusual number of really odd, generic 1980's cars in MINT condition as of late. Last night some guy drove past me in a fucking MINT 1981 Chrysler Newport. A few weeks before I saw some guy in a Chrysler LeBaron - again, FULLY restored.
I think weird 80's shitboxes are becoming a thing again.
he's a man of simple tastes
My dad is classier than yours.
He's a Porsche mechanic and owns two 80's 911's, so isn't doing too bad for cars. I'm sure he'd buy a 993 if the bubble ever bursts, or maybe even a 991 gt3 once he retires and sells the business
>>17807262
I think the early ones are good looking, but not really good in any other way.
I don't quite know. But I'd buy him the same late 60's Camaro SS he had when he was younger. He owned a gold 240SX when I was way little. I was fascinated by the pop-up lights.
That 240 made me love cars. I wish I had the money to get him back in that SS. But he has a bike he really loves, and I know it makes him happy.

He drove an f250, quad cab shortbed and a Harley Heritage Softtail Classic
>>17796071
That thing is thick in all the right places
He also likes NA Miatas.
>>17796055
My dad liked Cadillacs, so he probably would have ended up with a Cadillac ATS or CTS.
He's been a loyal Toyota follower since he was young and he used to drive an AE86 Sprinter Trueno and several Lexus coupes and sedans.
Now he's 70 and has the most powerful and smoothest car he's ever owned.
My dad wanted a big Mercedes for a while, he didn't actually like them after some test drives. Bought a big Infiniti SUV instead.

Since 2010 or so he's owned 2 priuses at a time, usually the current model and whatever older one he still has. He probably makes close to 200k a year.
