I think around 200cad - SW motech good stuff.
I crashed my previous XR a couple of times and they worked well, only scuffing up the aux lights because they stuck out and bunch with the beak mounts.

In the highside that totaled the bike, the fairing was only damaged because the handlebar slammed into it

I still gotta get me a helmet lock like this. And or maybe a cable-type lock for my jacket and vest? For pic related style locks you use the seat lock to secure the D ring underneath. But it isn't hard at all to cut a helmet strap, it also prevents helmet drops. So I'd put a cable lock around the chin bar and through the sleeves of my jacket and vest. Sounds awfully messy though.

I do live in the subhuman nigger-spic hybrid infested shithole that is NYC.

I'm a total newfag when it comes to mechanical stuff, but I want to learn. I currently have a Husaberg 650e that needs it's fuel lines swapped. Any resources or youtube videos/channels you guys can spoonfeed me to teach me how to do this? Is there any real difference in the process of swapping a Husaberg 650e and literally any other bike's fuel lines?

Enough that I bought it twice. I seriously considered the SDGT for a while, but decided against it for reasons I posted in a previous thread. The XR for me is pretty much the best all rounder street bike available even though it's pretty much parts bin thrown together. Definitely not for dirt despite it's adv marketing.

In town I was in a hurry since I got called into work on my day off.
Somehow decided it was a good idea to heavily accelerate from a stand still when making a left turn and high sided. I was uninjured thankfully, but was a pain to do a month without a bike.

Same spot with the previous XR

Traction control still won't overcome the laws of physics as I've found out. When I highsided I was in dynamic mode so the DTC kicks in later.
Been going on more group rides lately since my dad has gotten involved with the local scene. They end up being pretty comfy: find new places on the island and have lunch.

Most HD places won't touch it. No two parts interchange from a sporty to a Buell. I know a guy who used to be a Buell technician but for the most part it's just DIY. I've got all the parts and maintenance manuals. It's an absolute treat to ride. The front end is light, the low end torque is very usable around town. Stop light to stoplight she haul ass but she leaves a little to be desired in the neighborhood of top speed. Front end feels a little too light anywhere over 100mph. I Wouldn't recommend for anyone wanting a track bike but if you're looking for a affordable, unique, throaty tractor sounding air-cooled v twin bike that doesn't weigh 600 pounds I'd recommend a Buell xb12r.

I didn't unfortunately since I had the crash a few weeks prior.
The guys at Westwood were nice enough to give me a refund, but I was pretty choked since they only have a couple days each year.
We have our own squiddies here too, which was why I was hesitant to get into it in the first place. Retirees are pretty chill though provided they're not on Harley's, and tend to have a good amount of experience while not being out there to prove anything.

>>
>>17794486
Assuming you didnt misquote mine happened when I road raged and ran a red that had just changed and gave it way too much throttle plus a double manhole cover. It was the first time I rode without my jacket too so I rashed my elbow. It wasnt too bad though because I mainly slid on my ass and pulled up my elbow that was dragging the asphalt when I felt the rashing. Had frame sliders too so I picked up the bike and my spaghetti and got the fuck out of there. My bike almost slid into the car waiting at the other side of the light though.
>>
>>17794490
I was nobike and nocar for 10 months after I crashed going 90 back in sept 2016. Shit threw me off so bad I went back to being depressed and thinking of killing myself and spent all of my paychecks in whole on drugs the moment I got them. Ive only solved it partly by riding illegally with no insurance on someone else's bike. It's a long story but the bike is impossible to insure due to it being financed by a retard.
>>
>>17794496
I was wearing a down jacket my mom had just gotten me for my birthday with a compression shirt underneath it for armour when I went down. Tore up the elbow of it and the back left. Left a trail of feathers the whole way home as they kept flying out, it was pretty much empty by the time I got back.

Bike got a little rashed and a bent clutch lever but saved by my frame sliders. Some big burly Harley rider stopped and helped me collect my spaghetti before I took off.

What do you mean by compression shirt? Ive been considering moisture wicking clothes because I sweat myself silly to the point of it being a risk of dehydration and heat exhaustion on rides and my gf wears compression shorts under her skirts but ive never heard of compression clothes for protection. I do have thermals for winter riding too.
>>
>>17794511
Yeah looking back on it the whole thing was pretty funny but at the time I was super upset.

Ended up only costing me like $50 in parts and I still sold the bike for more than I bought it for.

That does happen I riced and modded my old cbr250r that I bought for 3k so much that it looked more expensive than it was, and people would be willing to pay for that. Especially since it was an entry level bike too first timers dont know shit about buying a bike and would just be too busy getting wet about being tantalized by one.
>>
>>17794520
It was this thing. Nice because you can just wear anything over top of it but it doesn't protect you much against sliding which my friend found out when he completely destroyed it when he crashed wearing it.
>>
>>17794520
The knockoff under armor at target isn't terrible. Full sleeve version keeps a breezy, wicking layer all the way down.

And high end gear companies make padded underwear/shirts. Target is cheaper, though.

Armored shirts do look pretty good, expensive as fuck but would definitely consider one. Id imagine theyd help hold the CE armor in jackets and pants if they make bottoms better, I have problems with them not being where they need to be and staying in place.

Also thats the airbag vest it inflates via c02 canister when you fly off your bike so it doesnt look like that regularly, nerd. If you want protection look into it.

I got the Helite Turtle off revzilla. It was 650 usd. Love it and am quite proud of having one but wearing it means no back air ventillation from my jackets. Its somewhat heavy too due to having a massive upgradeable solid back protector and the 60cc c02 canister + mechanism. The weight issue is minimal though. I feel confident in the safety of it and wear it on every ride now. You also can't sow club patches on it so I put my patch on my jacket shoulder instead. No biggie.

I have a clip of testing it on fb but 4chan doesnt allow links, you can add me under Michael Choi if you like. We could chat or have gay sex.

Fb is pure cancer I only use it for group ride organization and messenger. You're fine. The helite vest also offers ribs, neck, chest, and kidney protection. I chose the helite over the spidi full dps revzilla also has because of the 200$ cheaper price tag and much better back protection. The spidi looks like it has better neck stabillization though. But Its uglier imo due to hi vis accents. Also the helite has like $25 cash back if you buy it from revzilla. Their rewards program only goes up to 600 though so buy the spare c02 canisters seperate. Honestly I think everyone should have one of these.

Also another problem is you cant wear a backpack over it or anything at all. I crashed wearing a motorcycle backpack once upon a time. Theyre pretty sturdy with chest and waist straps and I miss wearing mine.

There's a used bike I'll be looking at just over 2 hours (130 miles) away from where I live. The bike is identical to one I had within the last year (But wrecked when a truck spilled oil on the road), so I'd be instantly familiar with it. Even so, if you guys were in this situation, would you ride it home or rent a truck for ~$150 to haul it home? I don't know anyone with a truck and would have to rent one
>>
>>17794924
Because buying any helmet you have not already worn is retarded.
helmets are only as good as they fit.
if you have a helmet that beats the safety recommendations by 5 times the margin it is still useless if it doe snot fit your head properly.

Every single helmet in existence is designed for a different head shape.

Take me for an example here, the best fitting helmet i could find is a shoei GT air, i wish to hell i could have bought a HJC fg17 instead but it would have been a moronic decision on my part considering the HJC did not fit right despite costing 1/3 as much.

>what is the difference between a trial bike, trail bike, enduro bike and motocross bike?

>trial bike
for doing trials riding. thats their only real purpose apart from short distance extremely technical trail/enduro riding. cant really be used on roads at all. similar to a bicycle with an engine.

>trail bike
for utility/touring purpose on unsealed and unmarked roads. similar use to a truck/ute in the car world of being an offroad workhorse. Usually built to be simple and reliable. Often used on properties for herding/farm use/etc or for off road touring due to their reliability and heavy duty nature.

>enduro bike
made for enduro riding (which involves fast paced and technical single track trails through bushland). Modern enduros can and often are converted for touring use with larger fuel tanks and longer gearing. Have a tight maintenance schedule on engines as they are highly tuned. Are usually light weight too. Generally not used for road riding apart from getting to the trail itself. Usually have a headlight and tail light for trail use.

>motocross bike
made to ride on motocross tracks. very highly strung engines and expensive suspension components. Have very short ratio gearboxes as high speed generally doesn't occur but extreme acceleration is needed. Frequent maintenance schedules. Can be converted for enduro use in race applications, however gearboxes can be limiting. Not practical to ride on the road at all due to not even having a headlight.

>t. a man with a drz400sm, which is a trail bike with street rims, i.e. a contradiction of itself.

0 to 60 times are bullshit anyways.
Almost every sportsbike isnt limited by the amount of power they produce and put down on the road, but by torque that this creates making the bike wheelie. That in turn results that things like for example rider position is more than the sportsbike make.

It doesnt ruin it but you'd be risking slight damage to the soft foam liner. Depending on mirror shape and repeated routine you're looking at possible miniscule damage. It's also why you shouldn't carry heavy things in your lid because it compresses the foam which is designed to do that to absorb impact energy. I wouldnt do either or put my helmet on my handlebars either. I did the handlebars up until I was educated and my bike tipped over one day and punched a hole in the helmet.

Hey /dbt/

So I've been riding a Honda VTR firestorm for about 3 years now, it's been stolen 4 times, twice I've had to replace almost half the bike.

So I can currently ride it (hotwired), engine is sweet and the sound it makes I just fucking love. But allas, it's MOT is due soon and I don't think I can stomach spending hundreds to make it pass as an 18 year old bike that I bought originally for £1600.

I think if I sell it now in current condition I would be lucky to get a few hundred for it.

So anyway, I want a new bike, V-twin, V4 (RSV4/Tuono) or Triumph Speed Tripple or something.

Budgeting £4-7k, I don't mind naked or faired but I do want it to sound+look good, not too fussed about top speed or track statistics but plenty of torque is a bonus.

Cheers guys and happy riding

its a trail bike. its design purpose is not to be ridden on the street. It will be able to ride on the street, however without modifications there will be many far better bikes for the purpose

>need a big one so i can survive the freeway
any bike can work on the freeway. in fact, a bike like a ninja or other learner sports bike will have far better wind protection and ergonomics for the freeway than the xr600, which will be poorly geared and leave you without protection.
>>
>>17795529
Yeah it's happened to me three or four times when I got my first bike. First thing I did actually when it was delivered was hop on, stall the engine, and drop it on some shit I had in my garage and dent the tank. After that I dropped it from parking on a slope and lastly going perpendicular from the sidewalk to the road on a high curb.

A good way to get used to the weight of your bike is stand up and put both feet flat on the sides and rock it back and forth like youre shaking your ass. MSF taught that first thing and you can dance at reds with it.

Need some halp /dbt/
I'm changing tubes and tires on my dual sport for the first time but the inner tube is really thick around the stem so it's getting pinched under the bead so it's not seating properly.
I can't tuck the tube under for the life of me, it just expands right back under the bead.

p.s. do I need to have a valve stem nut inside the rim?
