Not OP, but I'm in the same situation. The only meets I know of near me are classic/muscle car shows, and I'm really only interested in sports cars. I really don't know what to do.

I thought that my country wasn't really good for these things, but damn seems that you americans have it way worse than I imagined
In my country a lot of brands have their own clubs and people just organize meets for themselves quite often (some models like celica, clio or mx5 even have their own)
Besides that, back in the day a lot of people used to meet at the parkings and just talk about their cars, mods etc., But I think that it died out

I entered a car show for fun, I was literally one of 4 Imported cars in an event with probably around 50~70 cars. Not one of the boomers talked to us except some guy 'helping us out' by telling us where the public parking was since we were obviously lost.
Wish my car was nice enough to win best in show to fuck with them, but I actually drive mine so the front is chewed up from track crap and doesn't look like it just rolled off the factory floor, which is all that matters apparently.
Also I'm ranting, I fucking hate classic cars, and it's pretty much the toxic culture of everyone I've encountered that drives one so far.

I currently have a "car guy" friend, we've been friends for years but only until recently did he get into cars. It is the most annoying shit in the universe having someone constantly say stupid shit, "bro, supras are hella fast, they can get like 1000hp" (only some can). "bro i want my next car to be a 350z and make it a drift car," or better "aren't all nissans fwd?" it's like this, you either meet a car guy that knows too little to have a nice conversation with or you meet one that knows too much and is too annoyed to talk to someone that doesn't know everything. If you want "car buddies" just work on a car yourself, and then go out in the highway every once in a while late at night, you're bound to find someone who likes cars as much as you and your face interaction will be a race, so it'll be fun, the fact that you even have to ask this question though, i already know you're a faggot.
