Why do the Axis powers still build cooler cars than the Allies?

The philosophy of the countries towards design and manufacturing have not changed.
Japan likes to make things lighter to maximize power to weight, and to use as few resources as possible
Germany prefers quality over quantity to an extreme degree, and will seek novel solutions to problems they (sometimes) create for themselves
Italy prefers style over reliability and will build things with a typical flair
The US and UK, on the other hand, build things that work, to a degree, but build them in such large quantities that they massively outnumber their opponents.

Comfort makes lazy, and the allies were comfortable winners. There was no need for them to improve. Meanwhile the axis had to come back from devestation, and they overtook the allies in the process.

Having seen a couple of non-Quadrifoglio Giulias in person, I'm really disappointed with how they look.
It's like someone mashed up an A4 and 3-series and left the result in the oven for a bit too long, then decided that fuck it, that will do, and slapped the Alfa grille on it.

Seriously, that grille is like the only unique design element and it's no different than Audi's trapezoid grille with big side vents or BMW's kidney grilles.
It feels like in their attempt to make something that competes with the Germans, they tried to be as much like the Germans as possible.
