Thoughs on kit cars? are they worth it?
>>17786242
The well made ones that aren't trying to copy anything are pretty cool.
That G35 "Spoopr car" kit looks like shit though,
I kinda want a Factory 5 Type 65 coupé with a B16 or a 4A-G.
>>17786258
Type 65 look cool but it sucks that you need parts from mustang
They're worth it when you find one that's had its engine built but then the kit is shitty so it's selling for the same or less than an unmolested one in similar condition

The only reason to have a car that a kit car emulates is for either performance, prestige, or both.
Kit cars have none of these things.
what exactly are kit cars?
aren't they just custom bodies on an existing chassis?
The only time it's really worth it is when you can get some crazy lightweight vehicle that shouldn't be road legal by any means but is anyways because it's a kit car and they get special rules.
An Ariel Atom with a good honda engine setup can compete with six figure supercars while costing a fraction of the price.

Pretty much. It isn't all cosmetic though. Some kits provide a weight reduction and improved aerodynamics. Some even allow for custom parts that wouldn't normally fit with the normal body style.

A kit car is basically a car you made yourself, instead of getting the car assembled you get parts that you need to assemble yourself, most of the time you also need a donor car to get the engine/transmission
>>17786441
Why? Just buy aftermarket parts. You can make them have the same suspension style as the OG cars and 427s, the budget option is a mustang donor.

>What are factory five kits
>>17786453
Depends on the kit. The ones worth buying are usually tube frame and fibreglass, with engines/trans/some suspension components from the donor.

The only Kit car I want is a dune buggy.

What do these atoms go for on the used market? Where do you get one?
This is my midlife crisis car.
I've wanted a Noble for like a decade. I've only seen two of them in the flesh and they look and sound amazing.

Just build an Exocet
There was a Factory Five Type 65 Coupe parked near the Toronto Indy that I saw, they're beautiful cars. Hopefully they'll still be around when I hit my midlife crisis
>>17788743
But I dont want to build, I just want to drive.
>>17786242
you looking at that craigslist ad?
>>17788764
Flyin' Miata has turn-key exocets that you can just buy and drive
>>17788764
Building's half the fun, man.

I remember fixing old cars with my dad-I was there to yell at when tools were lost. Because as a 13 yo, there's nothing you want more than a 7/16 socket that you can hide from your dad when he needs it.
I think I'll buy.
