They're not fast by any means, but they are pretty nippy and fun to drive.

It's a Mazda, so it's going to be pretty fun to drive in comparison to other cars in its class. Don't expect it to be a 4-door Miata or anything like that, but if you find one of those in good condition you have a perfectly fine economy car that'll play around when you want it to.
