My shitboxes transmission acts up and everyone I've talked to can't seem to find the problem
However I don't want to wait until something breaks for fear that it will cost me a shit ton more than what I could've payed if I found the problem early

Anyone else have an experience like this? How did you get past it? My friends just tell me it's all mechanical and it's all bound to break but still
>>

i drive a $263 copart whip thats barely legal every day, and only take out my nice car on nights/weekends. if something breaks i go into a depressive tailspin, dont look at it for a week, panic, buy parts, break something else, drive it anyways because this FUCKING HONDA CIVIC IS KILLING ME, break down, buy a parts car, and watch the nice car magically fix itself.
tl:dr, buy a parts car if your car retails for under 10k. if you are autistic about your car, buy a cheap junker honda/toyota and drive it until it drops. the $263 05 civic has had a rod knock for 24k miles since i bought it but 3 quarts of lucas made that a little less obnoxious.

I don't. It's never let me down.
>>
Start putting money in a transmission fund
>>
>>17780024
I had this happen to me back in June. Sold the Honda Accord with the failing transmission quickly and bought a manual transmission sports car I saw on craigslist.

Don't wait man, get rid of it quickly while its still possible to get money from it
>>
>>17780024
I don't it stopped "reading" oil pressure today.
>>
I expect it most trips; but, I'm confident that I can fix most issues on the side of the road or at home when AAA gets me back. I only get a little nervous when I'm significantly over 200 miles from home and I drive archaic vehicles.
>>
>>17780038
fix stuff before it becomes really broken and it will never fail
take a few minutes every week to inspect your car for wear and check your fluids
usually a car will warn you before you start to have serious issues, unless you beat the shit out of it and dont do preventative maintenance
>>
>>17780024
Normies generally think their car as ever-lasting, driving them until something is broken,
also I see that's fairly common for the average person to not know what operating temperature is;
they just go as soon the engine is started.

I do preventive maintenance, changing things before they go kaputt. Also I wait 20-30 seconds after the engine has started.
I was ridicule because I bought a 15 yo Focus with 175'000km, after 3 years however my car is still here and the people who laughed at my car had their scrapped because the reasons above.

If you take care of your car, she'll take care of you.

Preventative maintenance
>>
I replace everything that breaks with its heavy duty equivalent or upgrade.

This and this.

230k e30 has only not got me home once and that was due to a dead fuel pump on an ecu tuning run.

If you know your shitbox well enough you can tell when something is not right.

Sperge more.

I'll tell you the time where I felt it coming and everyone told me to relax
>Be 22
>Tires starting to wear out
>Ask brother for advice
>Says he drove on worst
>Keep driving for a two weeks
>Slowly grow anxious over that time
>Ask father because getting really concern
>Says it's fine and keep driving it
>Three days later
>Driving home from a night of heavy drinking at around 4:30AM
>Rear tire blows out
>Right on a step downgrade heading into a turn on a mountain pass
>Almost lost control
>Thankfully if I did I would of slammed into the cutout of the mountain instead of off it
>Brother took breaker bar and socket needed to change tire
>Aftermarket rims
>Call road services to get towed
>State patrol shows up
>Ask about problem
>Explain
>Tell me we can't wait as car is in bad spot for other drivers
>Asked why I can't change my own tire
>Explain
>Get father tier explanation on how I fucked up
>Very embarrassed
>Drive my car a mile further down the mountain while being escorted by two state troopers
>Once safe sheriff who was there started asking for my ID and insurance
>Leaves me and treats me like a child telling me not to turn off my car so the battery won't die.
>After he left I dropped my ID out of my car window by mistake.
>Shine light from phone to see where it went
>Instantly spotted a tarantula and a few scorpions near it
>Sat for and hour with it there on the ground because they moved me to a spot covered with scorpions and tarantulas.
>There was 5 scorpions and 3 trantuallas and I feared more would come
>Be nearing sunrise and they all fucked off
>Finally retrieve it
>Get awkward ride home with tow truck guy
>Asks why I simply didn't change the tire myself
>Explain and add in the creepy bug shit too
If you feel something is wrong or need replacing and you are the main driver. Just fucking do it and take advice from a professional or something.

What the fuck part of the world do you live in where the ground is covered in spiders and scorpions?

Also, the cops were probably talking to you like you were a fucking child because you stank of alcohol if you were coming home after heavy drinking.

Also also, your brother and dad sound like a couple of dumbshits, you had the right idea changing the tires. I know that feeling, of being unsure and asking an older brother for help only for him to fuck you over and you get blamed for it.
>>
>>17780767
Wow, you're a little bitch.
>>

>What the fuck part of the world do you live in where the ground is covered in spiders and scorpions?
Southwest United States. The desert creatures like the mountain areas a lot more then anywhere else.

>Stank of alcohol
Fug that is probably true. Thank God he didn't try to force a DUI on me. Was pretty damn sober at the time from the adrenaline rush.

>Brother and dad sound like a couple of dumbshits
Yeah after that experience I now just do things without their advice and do more solving on my own.

>>17780799
No fuck you, fuck scorpions, and fuck tarantulas.
>>
I have a constant (decently legitimate) fear of all my shit going to pieces at all times.

I smoke a lot of weed and have 3 shitboxes on the road. If you've got a fleet, and one goes down you're still ok. 2 Volvo and a pickup. I neeeed them.
