I mean look at it you strip the badges off that thing and drive it down a touge next to an AE86 corolla and I wouldn't tell the difference.

looks closer to a third gen celica fastback than a ae86
>>
The burgerland AE86 is the AE86.

You fucking poofter.
>>
>>17779696
I had one of these before I got into cars and was able to appreciate it. Wish I could take it for a spin nowadays, solid ride
>>
>>17779706
Incorrect
The AE86 was a RHD car that was a JDM import to Burgerland
Their answer to the AE86 in burgerland was the Corolla GTS but it was not an AE86 it however it certainly looked the part
>>
>>17779728
Stop typing right now before you write "AE88" and make an even bigger ass out of yourself.

>mfw people watch initial d then go out and buy a toyota corolla sr5 with a carburetor
>>
>>17779728
>regularfurreviews said it so it must be true

just because the vin is different doesn't mean that it isnt a ae86, usdm sr5s have ae86 on the vin and they are the furthest from being a true ae86. all Japanese cars from the 80s had fucked vins, look at the aw11 or the s13 they rarely have the right vins but despite that they are still know as aw11s and s13s. its almost like these titles are more or less nicknames to define a specific model because saying mr2 and Silvia are not specific enough.

please take the autism some where else
>>
>>17779705
I agree with OP it looks more like an Ae86 than a MkII celica supra

Always wanted to pick one up if I found it for cheap either that or an old accord hatchback that looks similar too

You're the kind of guy that would fucking correct me if I called any 5th gen civic an Eg
And you're the kind of person that everyone would hate because of it..

It's just easier to call a car by it's more well known or popular name, no one is gonna try to figure EXACLTY what engine code each car posted on the internet or talked about in conversation, because that takes up alot of time and energy for stupid semantics that no one really cares about

these threads are a constant reminder
>>
>>17779788
specifically, it's because these cars are all known by their chassis code, not by their vin
look at the build plate in the engine bay of a us-spec corolla gt-s, ignore the vin that says ae88, and what does the chassis code say? ae86
>>
>>17779937
This, it's from Chassis codes, not vins, it's never been vins, it'll never be vins, and how the fuck he thought it was from vins, I do not know.

That said while he definitely made people spouting that meme more prevalent I saw it before that video as well a few times with chuckle fucks trying to be smart.
>>
>>17779937
i know, but because of regularfurreviews people have this belief that any ae86 outside of nipponland is no longer a ae86 because of what the vin says, watch his video if you havent seen it yet.
>>
>>17779957
What's funny is, IIRC he's even admitted his mistake, at least once on someone's video responding to his video, and maybe even another time on Twitter, yet people still parrot it, but shit it was happening from time to time even before that, but shit's out of hand now.

>same body style
>almost same size and weight, ~100kg heavier
>same price range
>same era

The AMC Spirit is the American take on the AE86, except it's even better than the AE86.

>better front suspension (double wishbone versus macpherson), same multi-link live axle rear suspension
>larger tires, more traction, higher traction to weight ratio
>smallest available engine was a 2.5L I4, three larger engines going up to 5.0L V8.
>>
>>17780004
Okay I kind of figured, but didn't know if it was the 88 guy trying to defend himself.

Fun fact about USDM corolla Vins, going off of their logic the SR-5 is more AE86 since it has it in the vin than the GT-S. Granted it's Chassis code is still AE86 despite being closer to an 85 in most ways. (The DX has an AE85 in the vin but still an 86 Chassis code, might be because they still used 4A's albeit single cam carbed ones)
>>
>>17780016
That fact was not fun at all.
>>
>>17779788
True, but I also don't think anybody got the 4AGE engine, so we still got shorted
>>
>>17780018
I'm sorry.

Another fact that may be fun or interesting, the S12 was the only S car to get a V-6 from the factory, some US models had VG30's stock.
>>
>>17780026
The GT-S had the 4A-GE, just had a small governer limiting power a by about 10HP but it's not hard to get rid of, infact some Corolla's and rebadged ones (like the Chevy Nova in pic related, and the Geo Prism GSi) had it as well.
>>
>>17780036
Oh, cool. A lot of reports I've seen claimed that we never got it except in 3rd gen celicas, and it was rare. Would love to find one someday
>>
>>17780039
Ironically I don't think we did get 4A celica's could be wrong, I know Japan did but I always thought we only got R series powered Mk.IIIs.
>>
Except the US only got the coupe and worse engine options. Also they're pretty rare desu

*Unless >>17780180 is talking about the 200SX and not the AE86, in which case I apologize for my rudeness as you're correct.
>>
>>17780190
The US got both coupe and hatchback S12s.
>>
>>17780193
He and I are both wrong, then. I don't know shit about Nissans, so that's on me.

Because he's a furry and knows next to nothing about cars because he's too busy looking up gay porn with dogs in it when he's supposed to be researching for his videos.
