Why did they stop building this gem? Was driving one for many years and loved every minute.
Pic related, my friend's probe V6.
I believe is was going to replace the mustang, It's based on a Mazda Platform.
It got embarrassing having to admit to driving the probe home every night.

It was just a front-wheel-drive Mustang. There was no real niche for it.
>>17777563
Why do manufactures do this to sports car platforms?
>>17777530
>v6
Lol
>>17777545
In my understanding they tried to bridge the gap between a mustang and a normie car. But yes, it was a mazda engine.
A shame really, it got quite a community and hype here in Europe

You can't really compare them cars. I think the probe tried to compete agains real sports cars.
But yeah that's probs why no one wanted it. To sporty for a family car, too slow and shit for a sports car

*I DON'T think
>>17777563
>A Mazda 6 with different sheet metal
>oh it's just a fwd mustang
>>17777673
626 please. But tbf it was a better car than the mustang of the 90s
if it was rwd i would buy 3
also, the name
must be pretty strange for you murricans, pretty obvious why
Despite being FWD, it's a very reliable and happy car

Some guy modded his to a rwd, but it would be illegal over here.
Would have been also great to have the KLZE engine instead of DE, 200hp instead of 165
>>17777673
That was literally the plan for the probe you dum cuck
>>17777594
There was a 2.0l 4cyl version too...
>>17779022
I'm aware, but saying it's a fwd x is saying it's the same chassis with a different drivetrain, which is false.
Don't really recall, but before I go lookitup, I'm going to guess they lost their partnership with Mazda and since it's more or less a reskinned 626, along with Mazda it went.
>>17777530
horrible name
along with the escort
>>17777530
It was literally only made to replace the Mustang, but as people still wanted the Mustang they eventually got rid of it. It was a fine car yeah, but didnt really have a place in the current Ford or Mazda line up.
>>17777530
Impossible to work on rebadged Mazda shit. They didn't call them probelems for nothing.
>>17777586
FWD is cheaper. It's appealing to corporate Jews and normies that know nothing about performance.
>>17777530
Because the escort cosworth was more desirable and could rape it in any conceivable speed test.
>>17777530
nice viper OP!

Had a low km 93 MX-6. I wasn't a car guy when I bought it & didn't know my shit. That thing was in the shop more than a Jag. It was an ok car though. Got stoned & blown in that thing more times than I could count, so I guess it wasn't all a bad car.
