Why are co workers calling me retarded for driving the speed limit with "a car like that"? Are they just jelly?
>>
>>17774554
Will getting an AW11 satisfy the craving I have for a fast, fun, lightweight, and reliable shitbox?

Is there anything an SW20 can do that an AW11 can't? I can actually find SW20s cheaper than an AW11.

My 30 year old seats are visually OK. It slowly reclines back but it's only noticeable after a week of daily driving it. The previous previous owner was gay and we (my bro and i, my bro was PO) found lots of condoms in the center council lol. I think he had gay sex in the driver seat thus wearing out the mechanical components for the recliner. Will post image on next post, pic is on my other phone

Just the usual wear and tear. My dash is melting a bit since the PO used armorall on it and it doesn't play well with whatever was coating the dash.
As far as seats go, the only thing that's happened is that there are some ciggy burns from when it was stolen a couple years ago. But the fabric and leather are in good condition. I'm a skelly so I'm hoping my non-existent weight will only prolong the time before I need to spring for a cover or new seats.

Are here any older corolla wizards? What's up with this front/back bumper? Was this part of a sport-level trim or something?

This is from Finland, and we never got any fancy trim levels on these cars. also I've browsed google through looking for another example with the same bumpers, and no luck.

The seller also says it's originally the 1.3 FX, and swapped 4AGE to it, so it's not even originally the AE82/FX16 model.

I don't understand. It doesnt seem to be a seperate bolt-on 'front lip' either.
>>
>>17799656
And this is the back bumper, wierdest thing is that this car doesn't have the side skirts that the better FX16 had.

It also has the AE86 style gauges with higher RPM and KPH meters

Ya no problem! Any other E100 owners here?

>>17809385
Damn son. I always initiate drifts with a clutch kick in my Miata. Just put it in whatever gear you want to drift in (second or first), and get the rpms kinda high as you approach the corner in gear. Now give it full throttle and push the clutch in for a split second until the rpms shoot up, then dump the clutch while turning. Then countersteer

You could also try not using any gas and letting the rpms drop a little before dumping the clutch, that unsettles the rear too. There's also handbrake drift, inertial drift, power over drift, idk lots of ways to do it.
>>
>>17809385
Oh and don't sweat it about hitting the curb, everybody has done it at least once. I fucked up my first Miata drifting in the snow one winter. Bent a control arm and wheel.

I've used croooober twice, yeah, it's how Upgarage ships internationally. You basically add items to your cart and it processes like a normal sale since your purchase alerts the UpGarage branch that you bought their item (ie. my radio is from Sagami).

Keep in mind shipping will be rape on large items, but considering that I got a set of coilovers for 450CAD shipped FedEx, some of the stuff is a good deal if you pay attention to the item description for damages and wear.

It depends on the individual selling it if it's a rip off or not. Can't go wrong with civic, camry, or Corolla. The panther consumes too much gas compared to the other 3. Just find a clean one. If you can't, just be patient and save more money until something clean pops up

>>
>>17832180
To add, you can't go wrong with buying a celica or Tercel.

So to recap from best to worst
I4 Camry, Corolla, Celica, Tercel, Civic
V6 Camry, Avalon
Panther
>>
>>17833015
Does the paint look original? Seems kinda matte looking, might just be a 25 year old car though.

>>17832999
I'm not too overly concerned about gas mileage, just want something that is reliable/durable and has cheap parts. Not that I'd complain about better gas mileage.

>>17833039
Any reason the I4 Camry over the Corolla?
>>
>>17833340
Yea the paint looks original. The clear coat probably faded.

Oh no I was grouping them in tiers.

How senseless would it be for me to buy this as my daily driver? I'm selling my bike and looking for a fun, easy to maintain, daily driver and this Starlet seems extremely clean and for the price looks like it might be great for what I need.

Thoughts?

>>
>>17835213
It's probably fine in Portland. It looks nicely maintained which is the real issue with daily driving old cars. Honestly, try asking the previous owner what he thinks. Ask them if it's ready to daily and sometimes people will straight up tell you no of its not.
>>
>>17835213
Looks good but I don't like the fact that it's molested
>>
>>17837033
I don't think it's too bad. It looks like it's on aftermarket suspension and wheels, and they added fender mirrors but otherwise it looks pretty clean to me.
>>
>>17837041
I'm a purist when it comes to buying. I like my cars stock unless I know the owner before the car
>>
>>17837101
I would normally be the same way but I can't afford to be super picky, and I doubt I'll find a bone-stock 2nd Gen Starlet in my price range any time soon. I like the understated mods this car has.

It's not like they gave it -20* of camber and chopped the fenders or anything. These mods seem pretty reversible apart from the holes that are probably in the quarter panels from the fender mirrors.

Overall it needs a few small things.

>third brake light is out
>driver headlight housing is super fucked, uncle (he runs the dealership) has a new one coming for it
>passenger fog light is dangling, I think the bracket is busted. The bulb is also out
>driver high beam is out
>power steering whine when cold, read that this is a common issue with this model

>>17840140
It's my mom's new daily but I may drive it every now and then. Aside from fixing the above I'll probably put a new head unit in for bluetooth. As of now, gotta get a cassette to aux adapter and those suck ass. Not too sure the speakers have aged well, either.
>>
>>17840146
OH YEAH

The big issue right now is both the 12V plugs don't work. The fuse is fine so this will probably be a bitch to figure out. Anyone mess with these before?
>>
>>17840146
>cassette aux adapter
That's what I plan on using for the Celica if the radio is operational. I haven't considered getting an aftermarket HU. I don't have any plans for it right now since it's an AT180, but I may consider installing a ram intake after a year of owning it.

This will be my very first "sports" car and manual transmission; I've driven with a stick in the past, so I doubt I'll have any trouble with this.

I thought I was summoned. Red sportx anon reborting.
Lexus are totally welcome! I really like my is300. Its not the most frugal on gas, I feed her 91-93 depending on the season. The automatic is smooth, although a common problem is a little bit of a rough shift from 1st-2nd but that's normal. I know they are silly but I do enjoy using the "paddles".
The 2jz is wonderful. Its really smooth, not fast by modern standards, but quick. Again, you can manage a decent fuel economy if you drive politely.
I lurk often, and I know a few others do too. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate.

Got the 12v by the shifter working. The one in the arm rest had a blown fuse but still won't work with a good fuse in it. No big deal. Just need a new third brake light bulb and power steering fluid and it'll be ready to drive after it gets a license plate.

There's a clean wheel without the airbag or switches on eBay I might snatch too.

I'm confused - the wheels on this Celica must be from another car if the original alloys have curvy spokes.

I'm in need of a new daily, and I've been thinking of picking up a used Tacoma. I found this one on Craigslist, and it seems like a really good deal. They're typically more expensive than this with high mileage, or a single cab prerunner which I don't want. The only damage I can see is this good sized dent on the rear of the bed and back bumper, and a few smaller dents on the front bumper. I emailed the seller asking if the frame had any rot and whether or not it had been replaced by Toyota and I'm waiting on a response. Assuming everything is straight with the truck, is it worth checking out?

Says it's an automatic and manual, that must be a special TRD model I never saw.
Price is completely dependent upon how the frame looks make sure to poke any sketchy spots with a screwdriver
>people actually bondo the holes and paint them
How many ball joints has the bitch gone through?
Ask if the frame has been replaced, if so ask to see the paperwork check when it was done. It might have a new frame but if it was done a decade ago it's basically meaningless.
Rest of it is basic truck stuff, seen these go far past 127k miles
Goodluck have fun

>Says it's an automatic and manual, that must be a special TRD model I never saw.
You can clearly see it's got a manual shifter in the pictures though
>>
>>17843725
He says it has a clean frame. I might go take a look at it one day next week. Are there certain areas that are more prone to rotting? And if the frame has never been replaced, is that something Toyota would do in the future should the frame rot, or was there only a certain window of time to have it done?
