OP, A $12,000 toy has better acceleration than a literal supercar. Modified shitboxes that have accumulated barely five grand in additional parts have better acceleration than literal supercars.

It's not like it's a hard thing to accomplish. It's just a hard thing for car companies to bring themselves to do without charging an extra 100 grand, taking out the back seats, and calling it a supercar because THATS THE WAY IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE regardless of actual R&D and manufacturing costs, or what people might actually want to buy (hint: not overpriced track toys. real track toys are cheap and disposable.)

BMW could make $30,000 family cars that accelerate like the M5, they just won't.
