https://nh.craigslist.org/cto/d/1995-mazda-miata-project-car/6280058802.html
How much work would this be for me to properly unfuck it?
>>17774941
lmao I paid $1800 for a rusting shitbox with peeling clearcoat, after a whole year of searching. 3 fenders need to be re done, and it's straight up missing the rocker cladding, with a lot of bondo underneath where the triangle would go in front of the rear fenders. fuck there's bondo everywhere. This is what I get for living in Michigan. at least the rust is almost completely confined to the panels
I feel like a complete retard. If I waited a year or two longer, I could have flown to California and gotten a super clean one.
Can't say I regret it though, it runs and drives just fine, and it's my dream car.
Worst comes to worst, I leave it under a cover for a few years and use it as a parts car for when I get a clean one.
>>17775027

>>17766769
I appreciate your way with words, but I still think you might be gay. You should get that checked out.
>>17775097
I take it that it would be a bit more than just a new fender, bumper and hood then?
Would it be a lot of time as well as monetarily for parts?
>>17775220
If you're smart with parts, nd have the room, then it should be okay, but unless you're certain that you can replace the front, then this could be a flop.
Do your research in other words.
And if you're certain that you're going to buy it but will nonetheless haggle, be accommodating. He could get pissed off because there's obviously an emotional attachment to it. If his wife wasn't there, he wouldn't even be putting it up on craigslist.

I would say the obvious choice is the Porsche. If you like older cars (and the 93 model isn't too off from the 80's model), then the Miata looks good.
I would stay away from the BMW.
Of course, whatever you like is of your choosing.
>>17775644
ya, maintaining an older BMW isn't my dream job. of course, neither is replacing an IMS bearing.
miata may be the best option, my dad has one of the hardtops-an NC if I recall. I've driven it, its nice. Doesn't tear up the street, and the MT never seems to be in the right gear. Always shifting during city driving. But, its nice.
Anything special to look for in older miatas/porsches?

i read it, not worried about getting fucked on the price really just worried about driving it off the seller's driveway and the engine blowing.

That's why you turn it on during the inspection and go for a short round the block test drive.

1990 NA with 60k Miles for $4800NZD ($3500USD), needs new cambelt done I believe.
Or
http://imgur.com/a/M22vS
1999 NB RS 155k Miles/250k KMs $5500 NZD ($4000USD), higher spec and 6 speed so am leaning towards this. Had Cambelt done at 200 KM/120 Miles.
I'm leaning more towards the second because I'll be using it as a daily driver but thoughts guys?

I'm not too much of a Porsche-fag but I don't think they had those speakers back when this version was released. In all honesty, I think the car is real, I think it was probably a junk car and it was picked up, put in a VW engine (some beatle engine idk) and redid the interior, so the cost for them would've been around 5k. Eitherway, a 912 for $15k? With 88k miles? Se abla espanol?
I wouldn't even waste my time, let some other sucker go see it.
>>17783056
also, i just noticed the fucking front bumper
>>17773620
Checked it out, there're a few things wrong with it but I don't really know enough to judge it. Guy said the front struts need to be replaced soon and there's a leak in the rear main seal. Needs new tires. There's a bunch of chips in the hood and front. What should I offer him if it's even worth taking?

Check the rust, that'll be the deciding factor because the 5S is going to be fine at 180k
In fact, if the rust is minimal I'd get it for a 3S swap, GTE or Red Top

t.busrider
>>17783875
Fellow MN/o/tist checking in.
That's a good deal, but things get suspicious near the bottom of the ad with that scattershot tag cloud. Also, the seller's name is Vlad so there may be a body in the trunk.
>>17783875
It's a gamble.
There's a chance that its stolen, or that it was formerly wrecked and has a phony title, or there is something else wrong with it that the ad doesn't mention.
But there's also a chance that it's an actual good deal that others ignored because it only LOOKS fishy as hell.

This is a repost, your question's been answered already. fuck off.
So I sent a friend to see this e90 320d(m47 not n47) to this company that sells used cars. They didnt let him test drive but they will tomorrow cause they will change the tires. Are they trying to make it a smooth ride just to cover some other problem or what did they mean by this?

9-12k seems standard for s197 GTs. If you wanna go cheaper sn95 GTs are 2-5k.

I want this thing so bad but the mileage is what scares me off. Not super worried about the rust on the quarters as long as everything else is solid. That's fixable.
