It won't save you so much if you casually speed, policemen here are pretty good at using instant-on or hiding behind radar proof objects. It's great however for doing pulls, and can be used to check that an area is safe for highway racing by doing bait pulls (10-15 over)

The single best use though is knowing when you have been caught and at what speed, and whether you have been caught or can sneak off

The radar detector might be pretty much instat, but I can only slow down at around 9,81 m/s2, wich means I need about 3-4 seconds to slow down to regular speed, not including reaction time.
I travel more than 200m in that time.

This calculation assumes a reaction time of 0,0s and tires with a drag coefficient of 1,0.
In reality I need time to react, the brakes need time to apply force and I might only get a 0,8 of drag coeficient on the tires.

A radar detector simply won´t work for me...
