How do companies with cars that are unreliable as shit still able to maintain a good appreciation? Obvious examples are Range Rover, Mercedes Benz, etc.

Alright. So that means these companies don't care about a person or that amount of people who buy their products after saving up for years.
In my opinion, any German, British or any European car company are absolute money sucking leeches. Why don't people just understand this?

Real quality is where the car can maintain it's reliability/less maintenance costs even after the warranty period gets over.

This. People don't need these cars, they want them. They want the prestige of owning a big ass Range Rover and they want people to know. They don't give a shit about fixing it.
Average household income on a Range Rover is 350,000 a year.

1) Outdated (unlikely)
2) The result of you overhearing a discussion between two other misinformed people and accepting it as fact no questions asked (a little more likely)
3) The result of you being unable to afford said cars and subconsciously trying to convince yourself that they're terrible so being unable to afford them is ok (most likely)

These are all brands that people love to shit on due to their "unreliability", yet they're all above industry average. Since the OP has a clearly formulated opinion on European cars, based on the fact that he thinks they're unreliable, when that's clearly not the case. The vast majority of EU manufacturers are above the industry average in reliability, whereas the majority of American manufacturers are below the industry average.
