Cam
Heads
Headers
Intake

But what happens if you do it over time?
Like, just headers and intake, and internals later?

Think about what each does. What does your new cam do? what does your head work do? what do headers offer you, etc. If you don't know these answers then you probably shouldn't be thinking about such things.

Well my engine im installing does not have any exhaust, and the blown up engine's exhaust is ruined, so I'm wondering if headers are worth it.

depends on the cam choice though. if its big it might NEED head work (like stiffer springs stronger pushrods etc)

It's not going to hurt anything to get good headers and intake in anticipation of a cam and heads later but you won't see much gain from it either until then.

You can do headers and intake before doing the rest with no issues whatsoever. Just won't make nearly as much power. Get that shit tuned. Also what kind of motor specifically?
