It's not SkyActiv-X or the rotary hybrid thing either. Twin parallel (not sequential) turbos + electric supercharger for power while it spools. It's a RWD design so maybe they're making a larger sports car? Seems too complex for a Miata.

Volvo made a similar concept which made 450HP out of 2.0L

Put some zoom in your zoom.
Halo car when?
Ok how about this
an MX-9 to accompany the RX-9
Got the mx-5 in the low end
MX-9 for the mid end
RX-9 in the high end for all your rotary memes
Based mazda
>The engine 1 is a longitudinally mounted in-line 4-cylinder Diesel engine
?
>>17740402
Probably the engine for the new diesel CX5
>>17740405
>longitudinally mounted
no
seems like mazda is planning something
wish it was the rx-9 but guess their not ready
Im guessing their going to make some kind of sporty sedan type car. They definetly need it because the rx-9 is going to be too expensive for most(50k+) and the miata is a just two seater,
A nice powerful sporty sedan in 35-40 k territory would fit nicely in their lineup

Mazda said a long time ago they want to switch to RWD platforms, even in their economy cars.
>>17741622
So RWD is part of Mazda's plan to become "premium?" Because yes fucking please.
>>17741786
I dont think they're chasing after the big 3 germans. They know their place in the market. So theyre trying to create their 'premium' market. Drivers cars, reliable, quality, and you know what. If they actually go with this, I'll shill them and I'll buy it
>>17741792
yup..unreliable, brand name strong, overpriced cars are German speciality
You cunts get all hyped up for a sports car and in the end all this will be used to make an ultra efficient city car
>>17741792
>drivers cars
>no V6 options anywhere in their lineup
>literally their entire lineup is mommy-mobiles and one cute roadster
>>17742244
this
mfw it ends up on some 0.9 liter 2 cylinder range extender

Yeah, maybe they're out to make the first (actually usable and normal) 1 liter / 100km car. The holy grail for Europe.
VW did one but it was an incredibly overpriced cigar box on wheels.
