Question to FZ6 guys
How much of a difference between $100 headlight kit and $200+ kit?
And does the wind get really bad with that tiny wind screen?
i hate kawasaki for being too shit and motogp and just pouring money into WSBK. they ruin WSBK which nobody even pays attention to just so they can win the retard race
>>17730842
>>17730846
Question for you.
Are there fz specific kits, or are you referring to a regular assed headlight?

It's not as little as it seems anymore, Piaggio is one of the biggest European motorcycle retailers and turned Aprilia into their performance company when they bought them, dumped a bunch of money into developing their first liter engine, and struck gold with it.
Sales are shooting up, you can get an 'exotic' motorcycle with more reasonable servicing than a Ducati, cheaper than a Honda, with a shitload of fancy electronics, and one of the best sounding/performing engines on the market.

Anybody have experience with the FMF Q4 exhaust on their dirt scooters? Currently running a White Bros E series with 10 plates and it's just too loud. I would take off some plates but it makes the bike run like shit even with rejetting the carb. I want to put a silencer in place so BLM and USFS will leave me alone about dB limits (calicuck). My main question is did you notice any change in power or throttle response?

>>17731162
I'm looking for a silencer that's USFS approved. Does Pro Circuit offer a silencer that you recommend?
>>17731165
My stock exhaust is a motorcross exhaust so it doesn't have a spark arrestor. I can put one of those cones in it but I'm not too sure what the stock dB rating is for a 2001 YZ426F. I wouldn't even imagine those numbers are available

Guys help me. I am stuck here and I need some new ideas. I simply cannot get these brakes to bleed properly.
>took calipers off for rebuild
>accidentally knocked brake lever while lines were open
>refitted everything with new crush washers and correct torques
>had no luck bleeding conventionally
>reverse bled until only solid fluid was pumping into master cylinder
>bled all 5 banjo bolts
Still zero lever pressure. Am I missing a major step? Should I take all components off again and bench bleed them? I am stuck.

Slip ons are generally pretty easy to fit. Tools required depend on the bike and what kind of bolts it has holding the muffler on.
Remap isn't required for slip ons unless your bike somehow has its catalytic converter in the muffler.
>>17732010
Most new bikes look shit stock though. License plate holders that extend out way too far, bulbous indicators that look at home on a 90s era CBR, rear mufflers that look and sound shit.
Not everyone buys a bike to keep it stock. 100% of the people I ride with have modified their bike in some way whether it be a fender eliminator, led indicators/headlights or a slip on/full system.
>>17732103
it means you weren't worth that extra effort.
>>17732133
>still not worth the effort
>>17732009
Yes, so? MN state law grants motorcyclists an affirmative defense for running red lights if they had been stopped without the lights changing 'for a period of time that a reasonable person would believe indicated a failure in the traffic control system'. I usually end up making a left turn on red from the off-ramp to the street I live on.
>>17732041
They're stupid easy. You just need a socket wrench, some come with a clamp bracket with varying bolts. Everyone should have a socket kit and bolt-key-insert kit thing, especially if you buy a bike. You can shove it on and call it a day. Remaps aren't generally necessary unless you want to tryhard for the back air pressure or someshit but it'd just result in a slight increase of power potentially if you remap/tune. Generally not worth the money for a slip on. If it's a full system yes. Just slip on and off.

>>17732205
Depends on the slip on and whether it has baffles and actual muffler packing in it.
My r1 basically has straight through pipes as the mufflers have had the baffles and packing ripped out and can throw o2 CEL in standard mode because of it.
Had plugs inspected just to be sure and they're perfectly fine. Tunes aren't needed all the time

Depends how badly it's dropped obviously and firstly how mechanically inclined you are. Go and check it out yourself and or with someone who knows bikes and be 110% confident if you do. Don't forget to run VIN checks.
>>17732250
Run vin checks hwen? Cant I do that at a registry office when I buy the bike?

I'll probably ride bitch on his bike until I save up.
>>17732244
Consider mileage before minimal scratches?
That's more than 100% more, for a $500 savings. And you'd KNOW service was done between, instead of trusting somebody who has a vested interest in making the bike move sooner.
>>17732244
The mileage is negligible. I personally would play it safe and buy the non-dropped bike.
There may only be some scratches that you can see but who fucking knows what else could be wrong with it. For all you know old mate selling it could've slid it down the road and just replaced everything and not told anyone. Fuck dealing with that.

The 2013 has a few scratches on the belly fairing but hasn't been dropped. I can buy a new belly fairing for less than a hundred bucks. The 2014 has a few scratches on the exhaust and a minor crack in the fairing after a drop, but is completely stock.

Reaffirms my statement in >>17732314. The mods alone is worth $500 plus easy and Arrow is easily one of the best sounding pipes for the triple, not to mention it's full. I've been in the market for a street triple myself so fuck you man.
I'd take 6k miles on a seemingly maintained, well-loved and invested in bike anyday over a dropped bike, not to mention the mods. Trash the 2014 one.

Anything before the redesign just for cosmetic reasons at the moment. Haven't gotten into specs between model years since I'm still on an undetermined budget. If I had a choice I'd get a Streetfighter 848 over the triple though. There was a 1400 miles 848 for $7000 and a triple for $5000 nearby.

If you get a dyna get something with mag rims from the outset. I just finished 2K km worth of riding on gravel, dirt, and highway all over the place and my front rim is fucked. Also be aware that dynas are a weird cat.. Mines in for an unknown dollar amount of service right now because I was riding it too hard on places I probably shouldn't have.
Dynas got its frame, downtubes, backbone etc but its got a subframe construction that makes them kind of catty. The transmissions bolted to the motor which is bolted to the engine, the whole works is rubber mounted. The swingarm is bolted to the transmission.. the whole ass end can feel really unstable at times especially if your transmission is dealing with lots of weight. Had to bring my bike in because it feels like my ass end is breaking loose and slipping out from under the bike.
>>17732374
I'm not set in stone on the triple, what else do you recommend with similar power in the 500-750cc range ? (Leaf insurance is fucking dicks). Was looking at fz-09 but don't want to get charged $150/mo hoonbike insurance, plus everyones got one of those things

how's the ground clearance? one thing I noticed riding my dad's FLSTC was that the front end turn in was extremely nice and I really enjoyed the handling, the problem is you scrape floorboards instantly. like damn. the thing would be incredible to fart around on with a little less weight and a little higher ground clearance
>>17732407
Thats because your dad has a heritage softtail, they're naturally low bikes, not as bad as a softail slim but low. FXDBs are up nice and high. Are your dads floorboards tight? They're designed to flip up so you can lean the bike further but then a mount might catch and thats a solid connection to the frame.
softtails are not meant for much more than highway. Heritage softails are heavy showy cunts I wouldn't trust in gravel.
>>17732417
it's 100 percent bone stock garage bait that he puts 500 miles a year on, max. the floorboards flip up but it is for sure disconcerting. it's also a an old man bike, and at least the dyna has a semblance of sportiness.
I keep eyeing 4500 dollar FXR's with an evo. I love the look of that evo motor for sure.
>>17732390
I compared mainly the FZ-09, street triple, and 848 with a little of Brutale. Prices are FZ < ST < reason < 848. Looks FZ < ST < 848. Performance FZ < ST < 848. Suspension FZ < ST < 848. Comfort 848 < raw anal < ST = FZ
I'd stay far away from the FZ because of the shit suspension on it they reused from some shitty other bike. It rides like shit thus and changing shocks is a pain/expensive. Expensive enough to make the ST worth considering over it at the least. I like the sound of a triple cylinder but I won't complain with the ducati's engine. The 848 is for once wet clutch and has really neat technology like quickly adjustable traction control (for hooning and twisties) and likewise easily adjustable suspension. It has the best suspension and rides well. Brutale is the hooniest of the lot by far. The guy said it kept wanting to wheelie on it's own like one of those energetic rabid tiny dogs whereas the 848 is dependable and more reliable, but still more than hoon for anyone's needs. Worst thing about the 848 is the riding position and potentially seat height, it'd need higher handlebars modded to be a comfortable daily driver and muh ducutty pricing and servicing expenses. If you're on a budget at all I'd lean towards the ST over the 848.
I got most of my info from "middleweight naked" bike articles and youtube videos. I recommend the videos, moreso the ones put out by respected magazines/blogs like Motorcycle.com possibly over individuals because individuals are often autistic and biased cucks.
I personally think the 11k ST you're considering is perfect. All of those mods are exactly what I'd recommend and get personally for any bike. I city commute mainly though with occassional twisties and highway squidding and local hooning. I'm in NYC so. The mods make me moist honestly, I don't know the prices but they're probably $700~2000 considering new/used quality and remap/tunes. Youtube the Arrow street triple pipe, it's cum.
>>17732431
Yeah the 11K ST is what I'm gonna go with tomorrow. All of the mods are what I was gonna do anyway (shit mirrors, shit seat, ugly stock etc). I'd probably get a white windshield and be set. 848s are outta my budget as sexy as they are, and fz09s are the same price at streetys here with 3x the insurance rates.
Anything you would suggest in particular to look out for when I go see it? Maybe during the test ride?
>>17732431
Also performance wise the ST and FZ are definitely tamer and less powerful than the 848 and Brutale. The ST actually would be the weakest and a true middleweight. I'd say the ST definitely falls inbetween middle and liter. Don't know much about the Brutale except that it's a really peaky engine. Also the ST to be fair has a sudden dip in power somewhere around 6k RPM that people complain about, but low-end and high are fine and well above. I've had my fill of jap sport bikes so I didn't dig too deep into the FZ-09, I actually compared the FZ-07 possibly so the suspension issue may have been with the 07 not the 09. But it's either or.
Again though it's fun and a blast to mod your bike from stock up but it's expensive as shit. You could always paint plastics for fun, plast dip your wheels/rim tape, or sell the mods anyway. The guy said he has the stock exhaust + headers but the arrow system is the best part of the deal imo. The windscreen completes the bike, I hate it without it.

>3x insurance rate
That's pretty funny senpai. I bet it's because of kiddo squiddos.
Bring someone with you that knows bikes. If you don't 100% trust yourself I'd say drag someone along is a must. Do a VIN run first to confirm the stuff I mentioned earlier. Can't say much for the test ride because I usually get too excited and caught up in enjoying new flavors. Make sure to ask about the bike service history and inspection, the more recent the better obviously. Also check/ask about the condition of the tires. People sometimes mount new tires on bikes before selling them which would save you $500+. Don't forget to offer lower on the bike first, I'd say 6k then 6.5k or ask for the old exhaust system (no one likes selling shit on ebay) and or new tires.
>>17732456
Yeah I'm coming from a pissier weaker CBR250R that I modded to hell because I couldn't stand the look/inadequecy. The ST is a more rational, practical, and reasonable choice over the 848.
If you see me around let me know how it goes. I can also give you info on ghetto modding and ricing and stuff. I recommend Plasti Dip over any spray paint, if you use Amazon use a price tracker like camelcamelcamel. You can also use return fraud to get free paint from Amazon. pic related is the bike

>>17732482
Not as dangerous as your mother thinks, but yeah it's more dangerous than a car.
If you take a safety course and ride for two years your chances of dying drop like 80% or some thing like that, the numbers are highly skewed by idiot squids that buy a sport bike on a whim one day and drunk boomers on Harleys.
>>17732482
Like stupidly dangerous. It depends how you ride more than anything though. You could also invest in an airbag vest so your neck and spine won't snap like twigs. See the pic I posted in >>17732250. The guy was 28 with a 1 1/2 year old kid. He had a S1000R though and 300+ people showed up to his funeral.
Best part about riding is the experience and in my opinion the group rides and life. It's a lifestyle more than a form of transportation.

Still try to get a lower price and or at least the old pipe. Say it at the end after the test ride. If he says no then just buy it, nothing lost. He wants to sell the bike a good amount as much as you want to buy it too.
