You will never get a decent condition mr2 for 2k but a decent crx would be realistic for 2k, not as cool as an mr2 but crxs are pretty cool plus much mpgs

the CRX is the best option of the cars you listed, IMO. cheapest and easiest to work on compared to the MR2 and subarus. also goes without saying the aftermarket and information on the CRX is massive

Get a diesel Golf, outlasts all that crap you mentioned.

op here, after much craigslist scouring mr2's seem off the list. also, looking for decent 1st or 2nd gen imprezas are in the 3 grand area, or if they're less they're aids. crx seems the best bet but its hard to get one not riced or seriously high mileage
