Saw some stuff leaving work today. Not toyo but /o/ nonetheless
Looking for a zzt231. How much should I expect to pay for a clean red/blue gt-s with sub-100k miles? I tend to see them going for around 3k and I could do that but they are all riced or high miles. Why are they all either run into the dirt, riced out, or crazy expensive?

I just want one so bad but can't find the perfect one. Also I flip flop on the Action Package and whether or not I want it.
Alright /tg/ if all goes well, I'll have a 2005 Lexus ES330 replacing the Corolla. It's a bit of an odd situation though.
>has 200k on the odometer, but the previous owner confirms that it was towed behind an RV as they travelled the country frequently. Actual driving miles should be 30k or less
>looks amazing inside and out, all the maintenance is caught up
>$4700 out the door, less than $175 a month with no down payment
I'll be seeing it in person at my uncle's family owned dealership on Monday. He's getting it worked on from top to bottom to make sure it's perfect just because it's us buying it.
I'm pretty excited. I need something that will just werk so I don't have to be worried every time my mom drives somewhere far away.
i cocked it up big time
broke top control arm and caliper at least
assuming labour is free (i plan on doing it myself) what is the cost in parts for fixing this, and does anything elso look broken.
>>17715184
Probably end up replacing the whole knuckle with the control arms. Not too familiar with suspension on those but just expect anything attached to the knuckle to be bent or damaged.
>It's a supra! Basically at least. Same thing really. Please, anyone.
>>17715338
essentially the back is the front of another car.
>>17715118
Get it : )
>>17715184
i would laugh but it hurts
>>17715017
I'd go with the middle one
>>17715118
That sounds kinda sketchy imo but I'll trust it when it's checked
>>17715184
Like $900 at most i think, rough estimate
Looks like it'll need a new axle too. What happened btw? Green text story please
>>17716340
Yeah hearing the miles threw me off a bit but knowing my uncle (not the one that fixed my car before), the last thing he would do is give me a piece of shit. He's even gonna have new tires on it for me.
Is the snap overmeme really too bad on the mr2 (1985) for a novice driver? I've driven rwd manual before but I've heard the mr2 is a killer.
Can I just buy it, drive it slowly to the track, and learn there? And never drive it in rain I guess?
I cleaned the whole TB assembly, trying to solve the random high idle issue I'm having with my 4AFE. No luck yet, I though about the TPS, but the thing was pretty much new.
I'm a bit out of ideas, I inspected every rubber piping going in and out of the intake manifold, no crack or anything, I tried replacing the ICS valve (with a cheap one though), no A/C in this car, and I replaced the power steering fluid already.
What I noticed is that it doesn't happen as much when the weather is warmer, and it's the worst when it's cold/wet.
how do I make my shitbox corolla fun with $0 mods

>>17717798

>>17715118
Unless it was towed with the ignition on it probably has 200k on the engine.

Thanks bro. I gave it a look yesterday and confirmed fuel pressure by installing a fuel pressure gauge onto the fuel filter. Only thing left to check is spark which I'm pretty sure is the problem. I'm in no rush now though, it's way too hot to mess with.
Got pic related recently, 85 Corolla LE, front fenders are rusted, and would like to replace them with non rusted fenders from another vehicle and repaint them. Problem is I cannot find a similar car anywhere, none in local junkyards or anything. Is there a good way of finding 80's Toyota parts that I'm not aware of? Any advice is appreciated.
>>17719540
Universal jdm flares. Seems cringey at first then you realize normies won't care, toyota fans won't care, car enthusiasts won't care.
Does Toyota sell packaged OEM wipers? I was the kind of kid who had to spend half a weekend assembling small Lego sets and I never got any better.
>>17719540
Yeah I did have that idea, the rust is really only around the fender touching the wheel well, so a fender should cover it. Any reccomendations one where to look/purchase some? It's hard to search on most proxy services.

Yes
Just YouTube how to install it. It's a no brainer
Putting this shit on is a pain.
>>17721001
holy shit dude where did you even find a clean one?
>>17721065
It's a Woodsport replica from England. Never had the time to install it but hopefully it looks nice when I get it seated.
>>17720948
I've installed them before, but does Toyota sell the whole thing in one package like I'd find on Rockauto?
>>17721188
What car?
>>17721195
highlander
I bought a pair on Rockauto and they turned out to be absolute shit. They streak a ton and they're four months old. A lot of the time the driver's side wiper wiggles almost completely loose and every time I get out of the car, I have to push it back. I never had this problem with the OEM wipers, but every Toyota parts site I've found has the individual parts and I'm absolute shit at actually assembling anything so I'm hesitant to order.
>>17721107
oh wow, I didn't know woodsport still made replicas, how much was shipping from England? I know Campos sells em for $180 which is cheap compared to the $300 price tag I've seen in the past
>>17721230
Try a pair of Silblades from Amazon. I've had good luck with them.
>>17721235
I think it was around $300 + 80 dollars shipping.

I noticed something
What the FUCK HAPPENED THE MIDNIGHT LVR'S AE86?
What's a good price to pay for a 90-95 Celica that's not beat up or has a billion miles on it?
Alternatively, is $2.5k a fair price for a mk3 Supra non-turbo with dinky interior and worn paint?
Here's my car. 2004 toyota mr2

sorry i was gone. Yea, there is no axle in the back of a mr2. i might greentext one day but i wont post the pic so people IRL cant tell its me lol. quick rundown; I snap oversteared cause i got scared.
There is an absolutely pristine 88 MR2 SC for sale near me for a really good price. On the downside, it's an automatic.
How much work should I expect to get myself into if I want to convert it?
>>17724593
if you know how to drop a tranny and 4 bolts worth of subframe it's the same as any other car
>>17724599
Would you say it's fairly straight forward, then? I have yet to work on an MR2, but I've heard horror stories of tight engine bays. Thankfully, the engine looks superb, so if the swap isn't horrible, I feel it's worth it to me.
How long would you expect it to take one person?
>>17724606
yeah it's straight forward. the only people telling horror stories are people who've never actually worked on one or is used to working on trucks. it'll rarely get worse than having to bend over into the bay. maybe a couple of days if it's your first time
>>17724620
Am I going to be disappointed driving the automatic for a month while I order in the manual trans and other parts?
I don't own jackstands or anything, but there is a shop a city away that lets you rent repair booths with lifts, etc. Would it be more worthwhile to work on it there instead of buying jacks?
>>17724620
Or more so, would I be more content in buying a manual NA and swapping a 4agze in there? From what I've read, the NA handled better than the SC?
Do any of you guys have a 20v 4AGE? I need to find and remove my IACV but I'm not quite sure as to where it is. I don't wanna pull anymore hoses and bolts than I need to.

For my AW11 I have a nice set of the OEM Supercharger 14" Teardrop spec wheels without tires, I like OEM stuff but I'm currently rolling a rougher set of Borbet C's on tires with modest tread wear.

>>17730105
also faster is a super vague term dude

You are saying faster is vague yet you used the words "appropriately sized"
Smaller wheels and tires results in lower moment of inertia which will allow you to accelerate faster.
Acceleration being defined as the time derivative of Velocity. Velocity being defined as the time derivative of position. Position being the location of the vehicle in 4 dimensional space defined by the 4 vector

I finally sold my 86 the day after to someone that kept hounding me for it, I was incredibly sentimental about it, the day after, I hopped on the ferry to check the car, buy it and drive it home.
No videos but all my naghboors congradulated me on it, my boss just became my new friend, and the thing is a total boomer and chick magnet lol.

I mean just between the style/fun factor, doesn't necessarily need to be toyota. I'm in a rut looking for a winter car, there's so many options and I haven't focused in on what I want. And it needs it because when you drive over bumpy road you can see the front part of the chassis just flex away.
anything like the dd 4 point front tower strut bar, that connects all parts without any hinges or flex to it is good, you want as much rigidity as possible.
Also if you don't have a rear plastic engine cover/diffuser thing I reccomend getting a diffuser as well since the rear pumper will act as a parachute

Yeah, I was also gonna get some underbracing rails as Well.

Car made 500whp before maxing out the injectors, its just a stock motor with a small single setup, ecu, clutch and flex capable fuel system, Might do some headwork and up the fuel system later down the road if I feel like I need more, but for now its plenty more than enough for me
Any mk1 Mr2 owners? I'm looking at a 1985 mr2 that's pretty beat up. From what I looked at
>engine is sound
>one fan seems intermittent
>shifter works good
>one tire not holding air
>rear corner panel is 100% crap, no frame damage
>pop-ups work good
>electrics are solid
>interior is 8/10, lid for the thing behind the shifter needs fixed
>relatively rust free
>4age engine, aw11
>front and rear bumpers are crap
>both struts in the back worry me, little bit of shaking while driving
Basically, a beater car. But an mr2 just the same. 600 bucks, runs and drives. I decided that I'll go for it, if the wheel size is right (I have one car on 14" wheels, tires are expensive as fuck).
Do the stock rims come in 14 or 15?
>>17755262
The early stock sawblade rims were 13" and the later Supercharger teardrop OEM rims were 14"
>>17752576
That red FRZ compliments your MK4 really well, is it yours aswell?
SO lucky anon.
>>17755511
Perfect, they're just cheap enough to buy winter tires and make this mr2 as a beater with rally potential.
If this is what you mean by saw blade
>>17755776
yes but keep in mind that once you start winter driving that car its going to literally start to fall apart within a few years.
>>17722075
I sold her to get my MR2.
Though so much slower than my ZZW30, she was still a blast to drive and I kind of miss her.
I have to keep reminding myself that I still have a kickass car and some mods are in order.
>>17755757
Naw the red 86 is actually my Dad's, but since he doesn't use it much I borrow it whenever my supra is off the road, I really need to buy myself a cheap daily car tho.

What if I'm halfway decent at sourcing and replacing panels, and know my way around a welder? I'd like to keep it stock as long as possible, but I forsee at least 1k in suspension between the time of buying and say, April of next year. But fuck it, I have a mk1 mr2. Do they make body kits or aw the only panel replacements from un-banged up mr2s?
>>17755928
get a zzw30,or if you need space, the hot matrix or some atezza
>>17755928

I'm also insearch of a daily, might get some cheap shit Tercel or a Corolla, dailying my ZZW30 can be stressful.

>>17756112
I think an IS300 would make a pretty nice daily, all the ones around me have pretty high km's though
>>17756123
Thanks haha, Well the 86 is an auto and stock as a rock so its a bit of a one sided comparison, it does feel very tight handling wise though and is still really fun to drive around the twisties, would love to have a go in a manual boosted one to see how that compares.
Yeh I would love to get a cheap ass daily, something you wouldn't have to worry about parking anywhere
Still not sure what's wrong with the Corolla but I'm not in a rush to fix it. More interested in getting a car to replace it. Simply too many little stupid things wrong with this one. Took the coil pack out and it looks normal to me, don't notice any burns or anything. Put it back together and pulled a spark plug and it did make spark when cranking it. No idea what could be stopping it from starting up.
>>17756479
Not getting fuel
>>17756556
Checked that by installing the fuel pressure gauge from my Civic. Bolts right on top of the fuel filter. Definitely getting it flowing there. Also loosened the bolt on the line that attaches to the fuel rail and it came out there too.

Is this any good for a first car? It's 2000 euro here.I know it looks ugly and in europe a 3 series 1999 bmw is the same price but the mileage on those are anywhere from 250.000 to 300.000.Yaris not so much.Plz i don't want to buy a tico or matiz!

They're good cars. Just make sure to buy one with a 1.3 or 1.5L engine. Listen for a hissing sound in the intake, you don't want to buy one that makes a lot of noise. And make sure the steering feels good.
Replacing struts on aw11, first time I've ever done something like this. Haven't bought the parts, figured I would just do don't and rear all at once. Is a KYB good enough? It claims OEM quality. Purpose of the car is just a winter daily and then spring rally project.
Should I get the mounts as well? Anything else?

I took a 1200 mile round trip in the new to me AW11 to see the eclipse.
Surprisingly bearable. No real issues. Not bad for a fairly neglected car (though I did do a full tuneup except for a coolant flush before I left).
I did see one other AW11 going the opposite way on the highway. The second AW11 I've seen on the road.

These are the wheels on a 85 mr2, are these 13 or 14s? Haven't measured, just looked. Wheel fitment says 14 for some and 13 for others
>>17763416
Cool. You don't harken to know offhand the measurements? Near as I can tell it's something like 185/65, but some people are going up to 195 and 205, and some up to 70. Why do that?

Put your glasses on, mang.
>>17767089
That's odd, most wheel fitment on sites line eBay and Amazon and tirerack are putting that year, make and model at 13. So they would have just sold me the wrong tires, great.
Bamp
>>17767513
It's pretty hard to mount the wrong diameter tires, anon.
The 'R14' means the inner diameter of the tire, so trying to put a 14" tire on a 13" wheel wouldn't seal at all because the wheel's rim would be too small.
Could just be that the previous owner decided to grab a set of 14" wheels for whatever reason.
>>17769501
That's odd. The oem saw blade rims I posted are always 13s on other forums, maybe they just made aftermarket rims that matched those, in 14. I know that a couple of the tires refuse to hold air though and need a refill before every drive, I'll look at them closer when I get back to the car.

>>17770552
This is a really stupid question but the gears are in the same place on RHD cars right? Like 1st in most cars is up to the left towards you, so in the same car but RHD it would still be up and to the left?
>>17770586
Yep, same shift pattern. Imagining the cost to build two different transmissions for the same car, you might as well keep it the same.
